When I was pregnant with our first daughter, I began having cravings. I had heard strange tales of women craving pickles with maple syrup or even paste, but thankfully I had a relatively normal appetite. My innermost being simply had to have oranges. I don’t know why, but oranges were especially large that year and uber sweet! When I was pregnant with our second daughter, orange juice was the only thing that alleviated my nausea. To this day, I love oranges, orange juice, orange zest in my desserts, and the color orange in my clothes and jewelry. Even Disney knows the power of oranges as they added orange aroma to their Soarin’ ride at California Adventure.

According to Modern Essentials, Orange EO is known for being:

 Anticancer

 Antidepressant

 Antiseptic

 Antispasmodic

 Digestive

 Sedative

 Tonic

Wild Orange EO can be used Aromatically, Topically, Internally, and without Dilution (Neat). However, Wild Orange is a potent essence and I recommend you do a patch test before applying too much. You can dilute Wild Orange with fractionated coconut oil (and other carrier oils) to help reduce skin sensitivity. Do not apply before going in the sunlight, read about photo sensitivity with citrus EOs. I only recommend CPTG Certified Pure Therapeutic Grade® essential oils for internal use. Always follow product information and directions from the company of choice. You can read more here about how to use and apply essential oils.

The flavor, aroma, and color of the orange is a mood elevating part of nature. It produces a happiness aura around us. Now let me share with you some pretty amazing things humanity has long known about this fruit from the gods.

Orange inspires abundance, nurtures creativity, supports an upbeat mood, rejuvenates physical energy and can offer support in transitions. Orange also re-establishes as individual’s inner child to bring spontaneity, fun, joy and playfulness into one’s life.

Using orange essential oil can encourage us to eliminate the mindset of lack and all of its manifestations, including:

fear

anxiety

inability to be flexible

imbalances in work

lack of humor

and the belief that there is never enough

Orange empowers our authentic self to live with an abundant mindset. There’s more about using essential oils to enhance your overall wellness here.

Orange essential oil is a valuable essence for our Sacral Chakra.

Jennifer White at Mind Body Green says,

“When out of balance symptoms include—but aren’t limited to—attachment issues, sexually-related guilt, timidity, emotional volatility, hypersensitivity, and trust issues. A person can act both completely disconnected and cold towards others if this chakra is under-active or needy and emotionally dependent if the chakra is over-active.” (source)

Orange also has accompanying gemstones/crystals to support us in our journey. Carnelian, Citrine, Orange Calcite, and Fire Opal can all be combined with Orange to bring balance, abundance, and fulfillment in our lives. (Chakra Crystals here)

Invite crystals to your essential oil blends for some additional spark in your day to make it magical.

How to use Wild Orange Essential Oil with Crystals:

Wild Orange EO with Carnelian to encourage creativity and manifest the success you’ve been dreaming of.

Wild Orange EO with Citrine to connect with your highest divine nature and bring clarity to see your personal visions manifested.

Wild Orange EO with Orange Calcite to dislodge unhealthy emotions so a vibrant emotional life can come forth.

Wild Orange EO with Fire Opal for leaping over mental hurdles and energetically advancing toward your next goal.

Another energizing addition to our lives with orange essential oil is in housekeeping. Using wild orange essential oil to our cleaning routine can lift our mood and help energize our thoughts toward our homes.

Laundry deodorizer: (great for towels)

2 Cups baking soda

10 drops lemongrass EO

10 drops cilantro EO

20 drops wild orange EO

Rigorously mix ingredients in a stainless steel bowl with a stainless steel whisk until EOs are thoroughly blended. Store in an airtight glass jar (away from sunlight). Use ¼ Cup in a large or extra large wash load of towels to rid them of mildew odor.

For added aromatic benefit (per load): add 5-10 drops of wild orange EO to your softener liquid (mix well).

(Use caution when using on white towels. Some discoloration could occur.)

Toilet cleanser:

Deep Cleaning soft scrub (porcelain only, do not use on fiber glass):

2 C Bon Ami

30 drops wild orange essential oil

1/8 cup unscented castile soap (Dr. Bonner’s)

Daily All-Purpose Spray:

2 Cups white vinegar

30 drops wild orange essential oil

1 Cup water

¼ Cup castile soap

Moisturizing Degreaser for hands (great for mechanics):

1 C baking soda

½ C coconut oil

½ C unscented castile soap

35 drops wild orange

Wood Cleaner and Polish:

1 Cup unscented castile soap

20 drops wild orange eo

½ C water

1 Tbsp olive oil

Mix Olive oil with soap, then add EO, lastly add water. Gently mix (avoid causing bubbles). Once mixed, this will be your concentrate solution. Store in an air tight glass or steel bottle and away from heat or sunlight. Mix 1 Tbsp of this solution with 2 Cups water and use with a spray bottle for keeping wood dusted. Use 1 or 2 drops undiluted to loosen stubborn dirt then use spray to wipe clean.

Exfoliating Foot Scrub:

1 Cup mineral salts

½ Cup baking soda

30 drops wild orange EO

½ C unscented castile soap

Soak feet in very epsom salt warm water for 10 minutes

Coat feet in scrub and let sit for 5-10 minutes (not in water)

Massage into feet for 2-3 minutes then rinse well.

I do NOT recommend orange essential oil to be used undiluted (Neat) on fiberglass or plastic. It’s a potent essence that can cause damage to those sensitive surfaces.

When blending essential oils, it’s best to know which oils they blend best with. Read Flora’s Fragrances for more information about the notes of essential oils.

Orange EO notes blend with:

Ginger (base & middle)

Grapefruit (top note)

Rosemary (middle)

Peppermint (middle & top)

Clove (base & middle)

Cinnamon (base & middle)

Cedarwood (base & middle)

Black Pepper (middle)

Lemon (top)

Lime (top)

Bergamot (top)

Patchouli (base)

Clary Sage (middle & top)

Vetiver (base note)

Lavender (top & middle)

Chamomile (top & middle notes)

Wild Orange Essential Oil can be used to enhance some recipes such as:
