Busted! Seth Gilliam – better known as Father Gabriel on AMC’s hit show The Walking Dead – was arrested for DUI, drug possession and speeding.
The actor was pulled over by cops at 2 a.m. in Peachtree City, Georgia for going 107 M.P.H. in a 55 zone. Gilliam must have been feeling pretty good over the time leading up to the arrest – he alleges he had three cold ones and a shot before lighting up a marijuana fatty and hitting the road.
The police report reveals Gilliam smelled of alcohol when they pulled him over, where they discovered his blood alcohol level registered at .107 and a joint hidden in the car’s armrest. The actor was then escorted to Fayette County Jail and charged before he was released after posting a $9,818 bond.
Gilliam isn’t the only star who’s been caught behind the wheel after letting loose with a bottle of booze…
Nicole Richie
The reality star – who is speculated to be divorcing hubby Joel Madden – has just one DUI under her fashionable belt, and it went down while she was filming The Simple Life with frenemy Paris Hilton in 2006. But a DUI is child’s play in Richie’s altercations with the legal system – she was charged for heroin possession and driving without a license in 2003.
Khloe Kardashian
Kardashian was arrested in March 2007 for DUI and served all of three hours in jail due to overcrowding. Seven years later, she posted her mug shot alongside the one of her quasi-brother-in-law, Scott Disick, and captioned the photo “Happy birthday to my partner in crime @letthelordbewithyou I love you LD!!”
Reese Witherspoon
“Do you know my name?” shouted the actress, who was pulled over with husband, Jim Toth, in 2013. The Wild star allegedly became confrontational with officers while they were talking to Toth – who had a blood alcohol of .139. The couple was booked at the station, and Toth got the DUI while Witherspoon was charged with disorderly conduct.
Michael Phelps
The 18-time gold medalist escaped a stint in the slammer after pleading guilty to drunk driving in a Baltimore courtroom in December 2013. It was Phelps’ second DUI – the first being in 2004 – and he was sentenced to an 18-month probation where he was barred from drinking and had a 90-day suspension from driving.
Natasha Lyonne
She’s come a long way from her troubled American Pie days! While in her early twenties, Lyonne was booked for DUI after crashing her rented car outside the Fountainebleau Hotel in Miami. Police reports say the Orange Is The New Black actress refused a Breathalyzer test and drunkenly proclaimed, “I’m a movie star. Can I talk to my entertainment lawyer?”
Nick Carter
Everyone’s favourite Backstreet Boy failed a sobriety test after police stopped his car in 2005. The “As Long As You Love Me” singer had just finished having dinner – and one too many drinks – with friends at a restaurant in Huntington Beach, Calif. before catching the glare of the blue and red flashing lights in his rearview mirror.
Michelle Rodriguez
She may be all fast and furious on the big screen, but the actress is anything but in real life! In 2003, Rodriguez was taken to court and charged with eight accounts of misdemeanour from two diving altercations that involved a hit and run and DUI. In 2005, she was pulled over multiple times for speeding by Honolulu police while filming Lost, but only one DUI resulted from the events.
Billy Joel
The “Piano Man” has had his fair share of substance abuse problems and was involved in three car accidents – all involving DUIS – in the early 2000s.
Matthew Fox
Initially, the Lost actor was pulled over in 2012 for failing to drive within a lane and using an appropriate signal, but the cop who nabbed him could smell the alcohol on his breath and charged the actor. Fox was booked with two counts of misdemeanour – driving under the influence and driving without a license.
Lindsay Lohan
Sadly, any mention of booze and the law almost always conjures up Lindsay Lohan. But it’s surprising to learn that – despite the laundry list of charges and altercations she’s had – Lohan has had only two DUIs. One in 2007 and the other in 2010, both of which involved narcotics possession.
Wes Scantlin
The Puddle of Mudd singer does not shy away from trouble, or so it seems. In early August, he was arrested for DUI in South Dakota. And since he likes to go all out, he was not without the attendant joint. Incredibly, this was Scantlin’s second DUI in under a month, the first one having occurred in Minnesota, leading to a car chase of epic speed levels. A little like OJ’s chase back in the 90’s, if you will. After arrest, processing and release, the musician continued with his tour, and his group members claimed that his record was not a problem at all. Okay then.
Flavor Flav
The Public Enemy rapper is famous for blowing all his fortune on coke in the 90’s. In May this year, things got a little more interesting for the rapper, who was caught speeding along a Las Vegas freeway. After arrest, things went over the hill; not only was Flavor drunk, he was also all coked up. To make things a lot more exciting, he admitted than he had done ‘a little weed’. This after the cops had smelled it in his car. The flamboyant musician allegedly went through his $5m fortune years ago by using it on cocaine, spending $2600 daily for six straight years.
Xzibit
The rapper and host of MTV’s Pimp My Ride show was famously caught speeding in November 2014, on the very night his wedding reception took place. He was found to have a blood alcohol content of almost twice the legal limit, and this earned him a stretch under probation. You could argue that there are like 50 other ways of celebrating your wedding, and none of them are half as dangerous as this one.
John Stamos
The Full House Star has everything under control. Except perhaps for his drinking. One warm Friday in June, the police received a call and heard that a silver Mercedes was seen driving erratically in Beverly hills. Apparently, the actor was so drunk that the police had to send him straight to the doctor’s. After release, he took to social media, thanking everyone who had helped him through it all. Sources close to the actor said that he was coping pretty badly with the death of his mother. We can only hope that Stamos finally got it under wraps.
Sam Shepard
Coming off the back of a successful run in Netflix’s Bloodlines, Shepard could perhaps be excused for wanting to party a little too hard. The 71-year old was arrested in Santa Fe, New Mexico, after he tried to back out of a parking lot with his emergency breaks firmly attached. In his defense, he said that he had taken ‘only two tequilas’. The Pulitzer Prize winner spent the night in jail. This incident, occurring in May 26th 2015, puts scar in the star’s rather stellar acting career.
Adam Bartley
Remember Deputy Ferguson on Longmire? That was Adam Bartley, and this time round, the shoe was in the wrong foot-he was not the deputy anymore. The actor’s Dodge pickup was picked out as suspicious on April 26th in Santa Fe, New Mexico. He was found drunk, in addition to the fact that he was driving without his seat belt on.
Dorien Wilson
Back in February, the actor was caught driving around in Los Angeles, just minding his business, which was not a problem, except that he was a little over the edge. He pled no contest when charges were pressed. Wilson was jailed for four days and placed under probation for 4 years. You might remember him for his role as Terrence Winningham in Sister, Sister.
Dalton Gray
Mastor Mike from the American Horror Story: Freak Show might not be feeling much of a master right now. The month of April was not so kind to the actor, as he was involved in a horrific car accident, where drunk driving was involved. He was injured in the pelvic region and had to have his face patched. It is however believed that it was the occupants of the other car who were drunk when the accident occurred.
Asia Carrera
The porn legend worked in the adult film industry for 12 years and appeared in a jaw-dropping 425 films. In early March, news surfaced that the former actress had been caught drunk in a couch. Carrera drove her daughter to a school in Utah and then passed out in one of the offices in the institution, prompting concerned employees to call in the authorities. The cops noted the odor of alcohol and conducted a sobriety test, which she failed. She was charged with driving while drunk and endangering the life of a child in the process.
Josie Canseco
Jose Canseco’s 18’year-old daughter is not exactly a model citizen anymore. She was pulled over by the police in Hollywood early this year and found to be drunk. The altercation took place in the heart of Hollywood and landed the young model in a series of legal problems.
Adam Lazzara
Lazzara is the lead singer for Taking Back Sunday. Apparently, he was arrested back in February in his hometown of Charlotte. According to reports, the musician caused suspicion after blowing a red light. Lazzara was found reeking of booze and completely winded. He was arrested and later released on a $25,000 bond.
Amanda Bynes
The former Nickelodeon star seems to have an endless supply of problems. Two years ago, she was arrested for starting a fire in a home in California. In 2012, she went under probation after a DUI charge. And in September last year, she was busted having stopped her car in the middle of an intersection in San Fernando Valley, Los Angeles. She failed her sobriety tests. Bynes has exhibited an erratic behavior on numerous occasions, prompting a series of mental evaluation procedures.
Nadji Jeter
The star from Grownups was caught in Burbank, weaving in and out of traffic with ’a maniacal intensity’ that troubled the police. When law enforcement approached the actor’s car back in January, they caught a whiff of something that was not legal. He was taken in, where he failed in several sobriety tests. Marijuana was said to be the problem in this case.
Billy Unger
The young actor from the Disney show Lab Rats was caught speeding in Malibu back in June, 2014. Not a major problem but then, he also tested at 0.8 for alcohol. Under California law, you cannot have alcohol in your system if you are behind the wheel and younger than 21. Kid was 18 back then.
Buddy Valastro
He is known for baking cakes around the country and showing them off in important venues. However, November 13, 2014 found the Cake Boss business man in a totally different part of the industry. He was arrested in New York, where he pled guilty to DUI and later apologized to family and friends.
Josh Murray
It would seem that the whole cast of Party Down South has a lot of affection for any frothy substance, what with all the DUIs they keep racking up. Josh Murray is the latest culprit, getting busted in May 2014 for drunk driving. This was his second similar charge, and it brought even more trouble because his license was suspended at the time, leaving him looking at the prospect of some real jail time.
Delvin Choice
The Voice contestant has become a darling of many after his participation in the show. His father is a Baptist minister, but Sunday, 11th November 2014 found Choice far away from the church. A South Carolina trooper pulled him over and took the star in for drunk driving. It was a first, and his fans will certainly hope it is also a last. Choice seems to have had the support of his father, who said that ‘everyone makes mistakes’.
Tami Erin
What do you do on the 14th of December every year? ‘Get ready for Christmas’ would be a definite answer, but that was not on the itinerary for Tami Erin, she of the Pippi Longstocking fame. The star hit three cars in Los Angeles in 2013 and fled the scene. She flunked all her sobriety tests and was charged of DUI.
David Cassidy
Keith Partridge from The Partridge Family was a fan favorite in the 80’s. In real life, Keith is David Cassidy, and two years ago, he found everything way over his head after an arrest in Shodack, New York. The 2013 incident now means that the star has been popped twice, with an earlier incident occurring in Florida.
Chris Kattan
The Saturday Night Life sensation was pulled over in San Fernando Valley, and the authorities report that he appeared ‘out of it’. So out of it that he ended up ramming into a Department of Transportation vehicle in the February 10, 2014 incident. He was booked on a DUI charge, the specifity of which was drugs. The comedian likes to go hard on these things when he can. You can’t have the Mango!
Dara Tomanovich
The lingerie model is also famous for starring in Bio Dome. When she crashed her car in the west village of NYC in 2014, she casually dropped the name of her old flame, former NY mayor Michael Bloomberg, hinting strongly that she could get the cops involved transferred or fired’. She failed two breathalyzer tests. You would think mentioning such an influential name could get you anything. This time, it did not work.
Donell Rawlings
The comedian has a long slew of achievements under his belt, including appearances in The Chappelle Show and The Wire. Now, he seems bent on courting a rap sheet. The 11th of July, 2011 left a bad taste in the mouth for Rawlings, who was arrested in NYC after going down the wrong way in a street. It is reported that he had blown twice over the limit when the cops snagged him. We are glad that nobody got injured.
Mel Gibson
Mel Gibson has been on the screens for as long as we can remember, and Mad Max is arguably one of the best movies he has ever acted in. The events of one July night in Los Angeles back in 2006 will always remain in his memory-and ours. The star was arrested on DUI suspicion, after which he went on a bizarre racist tirade against his arresting officer, who was a Jew. His comments were a disaster, and the public backlash was scathing.
Haley Joel Osment
Osment was a big star in Sixth Sense, but it really does seem that his sixth sense left him for a while in an incident which took place in Los Angeles 9 years ago. On July 20, 2006, Osment was arrested for drunk driving. He was 18 at the time, and his alcohol content was double the legal content. Now, forget the legal limit because he was not even allowed to drink and drive, regardless of the levels. A month earlier, he had flipped his car over in a drunken driving incident. In the earlier case, he had also been found in possession of marijuana.
Paris Hilton
When she was arrested in 2006 in Hollywood for driving while drunk, the socialite defended herself by saying that she had been hungry, and that she was just rushing to buy a burger. She has also brushed with law enforcement on multiple other occasions and found guilty of the possession of cocaine and marijuana. Hilton has told her friends over the years that her arrests are ‘nothing’. We can all agree that when the actress and socialite travels by air, we all feel at ease. However, when she chooses any of her fleet of luxury cars for the same reason, we get strangely uncomfortable.
