The list of ministerial nominees sent by president Muhammadu Buhari to the senate was read by the Senate President Bukola at the resumption of a plenary session earlier today.
The names so far are :

The Senate President, however, said the screening of the nominees will start on October 13.
However, according the Senior Special Assistant to the President on media and publicity, Mr Femi Adesina, President Buhari has not set any timeline for forwarding the subsequent lists of his ministerial nominees to the Senate.
SHORT BIOGRAPHY OF SOME OF THE NOMINEES
LAI MOHAMMED
The National Publicity Secretary of All Progressives Congress, APC, Alhaji Lai Mohammed is a lawyer. He was born into the family of Alh Mohammed Adekeye in 1952. He co-founded the legal firm of Edu & Mohammed as a Senior Partner in 1989. Alhaji Mohammed served as the Chairman of Optmedia Limited, a subsidiary of Afromedia Plc since December 18, 2008. He served as a Director of Afromedia PLC since May 2011. Alhaji Mohammed is also a fellow of the Nigerian Institute of Public Relations (NIPR) and worked as Public Relations Officer for almost 10 years with the Nigerian Airport Authority, now Federal Airport Authority of Nigeria (FAAN).
BABATUNDE RAJI FASHOLA
Babatunde Raji Fashola was born in Lagos on 28 June 1963. He attended Birch Freeman High school Lagos and Igbobi College Lagos. He studied Law at the University of Benin from where he graduated with a Bachelor of Laws, LL.B.(Hon), degree in 1987. He is married to Mrs. Abimbola Emmanuela Fashola with children. He was the Lagos State Governor from May 29, 2007 to May 29, 2015. As a candidate of the Action Congress party, now known as the All Progressives Congress, Fashola succeeded Bola Ahmed Tinubu, on 14 April 2007, and was sworn in on 29 May 2007. He was re-elected on 26 April 2011.
CHRIS NGIGE
Dr. Chris Nwabueze Ngige was on born 8 August 1952 and was governor of Anambra State in Nigeria from 29 May 2003 to 17 March 2006 under the People Democratic Party (PDP). He is currently a member of the All Progressives Congress (APC). He was elected Senator for Anambra Central Constituency in April 2011 but lost out to Sen Uche Ekwunife who has been sworn in as the Senator representing Anambra Central Senatorial District in the current 8th National Assembly of Nigeria.
A medical doctor by profession, Ngige graduated from the University of Nigeria-Nsukka in 1979. He immediately went into the civil service, serving at the National Assembly and State House clinics at different times. He retired in 1998 as a Deputy Director in the Federal Ministry of Health.
KAYODE FAYEMI
Kayode Fayemi was born on February 9, 1965 and is the former Governor of Ekiti State and a native of Isan-Ekiti in Oye Local Government of Ekiti State, Nigeria.
He attended Christ’s School Ado Ekiti from 1975-1980 and received degrees in History, Politics and International Relations from the Universities of Lagos and Ife in Nigeria and his Doctorate in War Studies from the prestigious King’s College, University of London, England, specializing in civil-military relations. His research and policy interests include: Democratisation, Constitutionalism, Security Sector Governance, and Regionalism in the Global Context.
He is a former Director of the Centre for Democracy & Development, a research and training institution dedicated to the study and promotion of democratic development, peace-building and human security in Africa. Prior to his establishment of the Centre, he worked as a lecturer, journalist, researcher and Strategy Development adviser in Nigeria and the United Kingdom.
ROTIMI AMAECHI
Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi (born 27 May 1965) was the 5th Governor of Rivers State from 2007 to 2015. He was re-elected for a second term on 26 April 2011. Amaechi was a member of the People’s Democratic Party before defecting to the All Progressives Congress on 27 November 2013.
Amaechi was born in Ubima, Ikwerre Local Government Area of Rivers State to the family of late Elder Fidelis Amaechi and Mrs Mary Amaechi. He was raised in Diobu, a densely populated neighbourhood in Port Harcourt,and had his early education at St Theresa’s Primary School from 1970 to 1976. He earned his West African School Certificate in 1982 after attending Government Secondary School Okolobiri. Chibuike received a Bachelor of Arts degree (Honours) in English Studies and Literature from the University of Port Harcourt in 1987, where he was the President of the National Association of Rivers State Students (NURSS).
He completed the mandatory National Youth Service in 1988. He thereafter joined the Services of Pamo Clinics and Hospitals Limited owned by Dr. Peter Odili, the former Governor of Rivers State where he worked until 1992. He is married to Judith Amaechi and they have three boys.
Amaechi cut his early teeth in politics as secretary of the now defunct National Republican Convention in Ikwerre Local Government Area of Rivers State. Between 1992 and 1994, he was Special Assistant to the Deputy Governor of Rivers State, Sir (Dr.) Peter Odili, and also a member of the Board of West Africa Glass industry as well as Risonpalm Nigeria Limited.
ABDULRAHMAN DANBAZAU
Abdulrahman Bello Dambazau born on March 14, 1954 is a retired Nigerian Army Lieutenant General who served as Chief of Army Staff (COAS) between 2008 and 2010. He replaced Lieutenant General Luka Yusuf as COAS.
Dambazau’s secondary education took place at Barewa College, Zaria where he graduated from in 1974. He proceeded to the Nigerian Defence Academy Kaduna as a member of the 17 Regular Combatant Course. He was commissioned as a Second Lieutenant into the Infantry Corps of the Nigerian Army in June 1977. In 1979, Dambazau attended the US Army Military Police School, Fort McClellan.
Dambazau later obtained a bachelor’s degree in Criminal Justice from Kent State University in 1982 and a PhD in Criminology from University of Keele in 1989.
Dambazau served as a military police officer, Aide De Camp to the Chief of Army Staff (1979), commanded military police units and served as a Special Investigator (1984-1985). Dambazau was Registrar of the Nigerian Defence Academy from 1993 to 1999. He also served as Chief Instructor, Support Weapon Wing of the Infantry Centre and School from 1999 to 2001 and later as Directing Staff at the National War College from 2004 to 2006.From 2007-2008 he served as General Officer Commanding (GOC) 2nd Division, Ibadan. He was appointed Chief of Army Staff in 2008 by late President Umaru Yar Adua.
AISHA ALHASSAN
Aisha Jummai Al-Hassan was a Senator representing Taraba North constituency of Taraba State which she won under the platform of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP). She later decamped to the main opposition party All Progressive Congress (APC) and became the Gubernatorial Candidate of Taraba State for the 2015 general elections. She was defeated in the election re-run held on 25th of April 2015 and failed to become Nigeria’s 1st female democratically elected Governor.
Aisha Jummai Al-Hassan is a Mumuye. A lawyer by training, Jummai became Taraba State Attorney General and Commissioner of Justice. She was appointed the Chief Registrar of the High Court of the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja on 17 December 2003. After she retired from service she went into business.
