Over the weekend we celebrated one of my oldest friends' brother's wedding! Their family is like my second family (I think I go to more of their extended family gatherings than my own sometimes!).
We ventured to Durham Friday evening for a beautiful rehearsal dinner at Bay 7. The views of American Tobacco district from the top of the parking were fabulous. (Side note: how can we teach people how to drive in parking decks? Also, if backing into a spot, using a blinker helps!).
We found Jimmy, enjoyed some drinks and Angus Barn cheese (yum!) before the dinner!
The groom's cake at the rehearsal was amazing - the staff didn't realize it was a cake! Anna at One Belle Bakery in Wilmington does crazy awesome cakes (and they're super tasty too)!
Saturday we got dolled up in our finest attire (read: Rob looked handsome in his tux, I was fortunate to find a dress that I liked okay in my closet).
The ceremony was outdoors at the Washington Duke Inn, and they had perfect weather. I found Lauren during cocktail hour (who was maid-of-honor in my wedding), and we had to take a picture - we waited too late Friday night and they just weren't that great.
The bride & groom had a fabulous band - The Shake Down.
There is something about black tie weddings that really up the ante when it comes to taking pictures - we needed another family picture (of those present).
And then one with one of Jimmy's oldest friends/a third brother of mine (there are a lot of those though), Walker.
Jimmy (he's single ladies) twirled me around on the dance floor, but I managed to convince him to take a selfie with me for mom :)
The bride & groom exited confetti to a golf cart since they were staying at the Washington Duke. Rob and I exited less glamourously in an uber dodge charger - just thankful for a safe ride home :)
Was a fun weekend seeing a lot of family friends and meeting new friends - Rob was recognized by many med students/residents from lunch presentations he has given for the ophthalmology department, ha.
We should be done with weddings this year until the fall, unless we get surprised!
