Earlier this week, Rocking the Daisies announced the first lot of artists set to play this year’s festival. #RTD2016 is still a few months away and so far, the line-up is a sizzler!

After many years of begging and pleading from their ever loving and loyal fans, multi award-winning band Foster the People will FINALLY be touching down on South African shores this October, for what promises to be the sickest festival this year besides Oppikoppi (disagree if you want but it’s Koppi)!

The act was founded in Los Angeles in 2009 by the super talented, multi-instrumentalist Mark Foster as a solo project, and was then later joined by bassist and long-time friend Cubbie Fink, and drummer Mark Pontius. The eclectic indie rock trio took the world by storm with their electrifying beats and catchy tunes, such as “Pumped Up Kicks”, “Call It What You Want”, “Don’t Stop (Colour on the Wall)” and “Helena Beat”.

Also joining the Daisies bill is Berlin-based Dubliner/electro genius, Matador! The producer will be tearing up the Electronic Dome this year with the freshest beats that are sure to have you gyrating the night away.

Bristol native and DJ beast Daniel Pearce,  aka Eats Everything, is also set to blow your brains at Daisies this year at the beach bar.

And if you thought that the international line-up is crazy, just remember that the local acts won’t be pulling any punches!

Acts like Diamond Thug, Jimmy Nevis, and Nakhane Toure, who is making a name for himself this year, are sharing the stage with some South African heavy-hitters like hip hop megastar AKA and THIEVE.

But the act that I am beyond excited to see the stage set ablaze is afro-pop groove legends Mango Groove!

This is only the beginning. #RTD2016 will be announcing more names on the line-up for the next eight weeks leading up to the festival from 6-9 October. Phase 3 tickets are on sale right HERE. They’ll cost you 995 of your finest Randelas (R995) for a full weekend pass.

Now for us Gautengers, I know that flights and bus rides to Cape Town aren’t cheap. Luckily, you (and I) can still check out some of the acts from #RTD2016 at In the City Weekend 2016.

Yeah, you read that right. In the City will be a weekend long love affair between music makers and music takers, under the Jozi sky!
