Perry Eaton ’08 will be back on campus on Tuesday, January 8, to speak to current students about his travels and work with the award winning music blog Allston Pudding. In the fall of 2010, Perry and two of his college roommates created Allston Pudding as a way to become closer to the local music scene in Boston and have the opportunity to see concerts. In exchange for tickets, the trio would review concerts and take photos of the shows. Two years later, the Allston Pudding has won multiple awards, including two Boston Music Awards for Best Music Blog, gathered a contributing staff of over 30 writers and photographers, and had numerous exciting opportunities in the music industry.
Perry graduated from Boston University last spring with a BA in Communication Studies. Currently, he dedicates much of his time to his work on the blog where he is responsible for writing, managing all press outreach, and the booking of shows that are sponsored by the Allston Pudding. When not managing the many aspects of the blog, Perry works part time at the Teen Center in Newton, Massachusetts, is a contributing music writer at The Phoenix, and plays both bass and guitar.
This Tuesday, students are encouraged to join Perry and his team in the Frost Library to learn more about the world of blogging. Students will hear what blogs are most popular and current as well as learn new and creative ways to organize and maintain their own work through the use of online tools.
