Camberley Heath GC has become the latest golf club that will build homes by its course.

The Surrey venue will move a greenkeepers’ compound and equipment buildings to a buggy area, and in its place will build four five-bedroom detached family properties.
Several golf clubs have tried to sell part of the land they own to housing developers in the last two years, as the income gained can make a significant difference.
For example, Ashby Decoy Golf Club in Scunthorpe has agreed to sell off five acres of surplus land, which will be converted into 71 properties, Brickhampton Court Golf Complex in Gloucestershire is planning to give up four holes from its main course to be converted into housing, Ullesthorpe Court Hotel and Golf Club in Leicestershire wants to build 53 homes by the southern end of its golf course and Shirley Golf Club in the West Midlands intends to sell land it owns that will be converted into 57 houses.
Surrey Heath Borough Council has granted planning permission for the work to go ahead at Camberley Heath.
John Molan, chairman of Camberley Heath, said: “We are extremely pleased with the council’s decision to approve the application of the four houses on the greenkeepers’ compound.
“This will provide funds for the continued investment at Camberley Heath to improve the club’s facilities for members and many local social clubs who use the facilities. We are looking forward to welcoming our new neighbours.”
Simon Collins, planning and design director for CALA Homes, which will be building the properties, added: “We have designed a high quality development, which will provide an attractive collection of family homes in the area. We look forward to delivering a scheme that both the Camberley community and the golf club can be proud of.”
The new homes, which will front onto the golf course, will be located on a private area of the club’s course and will be accessed from a separate entrance.
