A gourmet spaghetti pie recipe with Italian turkey sausage, peppers, mushrooms, and loads of mozzarella and Parmesan cheeses!

I love making spaghetti pie. There’s something really fun about taking a simple, staple meal like pasta, and creating it into a more ornate dish. Spaghetti pie puts a gourmet spin on regular and ordinary pasta. Plus, it’s versatile. As long as the basic base ingredients stay the same, you can add any meat and veggies you’d like.

I found all the ingredients I needed for this Sausage Pepper Mushroom Spaghetti Pie recipe from the Walmart in our neighborhood. The closest store has an enormous selection of produce, so I picked out a bunch of vegetables and herbs for this dish, such as fresh basil, garlic, mushrooms, onions, and peppers.

I also bought several jars of Prego Farmers’ Market® Sauces. Those sauces use ingredients that you’d find at your local farmers’ market – like vine-ripened tomatoes, garlic, and basil. The ingredients are picked at their peak, so they make for the very best sauces. We eat Italian food in my house almost exclusively, and we enjoy using Prego Farmers’ Market®  Sauces in our favorite dishes. The simple ingredients and produce in the sauces provide such amazing flavor.

I like to make spaghetti pie on Sundays because it’s a slightly fancier dinner than what we’d have on a weeknight. I can spend a little more time making it, and we like for Sunday dinner to be something more gourmet. Making it on a weekend also allows me to reheat leftovers throughout the week for weeknight meals or that I can easily pack for lunch. This Sausage Pepper Mushroom Spaghetti Pie a great weeknight dinner too because it’s not overly complex to throw together, and it elevates an ordinary plate of pasta.

I didn’t use spaghetti for two reasons, but you certainly can if that’s your preference. For me, spaghetti doesn’t have as much ‘stick’ as angel hair pasta, so when you want to get a neat slice of pie, the angel hair is better for keeping the pie cohesive. It keeps the pie denser, and it tends to stick together better. Spaghetti will work, but I like the denseness that angel hair provides.

The second reason is that my S.O. doesn’t like spaghetti. He will only eat angel hair pasta. Nothing but angel hair. This is a point of contention in the house because I like pasta variety. All the shapes taste a little different to me – I’ll buy boxes of rotini, fettuccine, penne, and a slew of others, and I like to mix it up regularly. He won’t touch them. I don’t get it, but I try to accommodate it.

I loaded up this spaghetti pie with some of our favorite vegetables, including sauteed mushrooms, peppers, onions, and a little garlic. I also added spicy Italian turkey sausage. The spicy kick of the sausage adds huge flavor to this dish! Doused in Prego Farmers’ Market® Sauces, you’ll love this unique recipe.
