Jada has some new HEAVY Metals superhero releases, this time to support the new Marvel Studios hit, Dr. Strange, as well Marvel’s flagship character — Spider-Man!
As I said in a previous feature, Jada has quietly been releasing a LOT of characters in their Heavy Metals line as of late, and they have the market cornered on die-cast, stylized figures. As far as “super-deformed” figures go, I tend to like these a lot more than Funko’s über-popular Pop! line in terms of style, so it is very interesting to see that they are aiming for a lot of the same licenses , at least in terms of superheroes.
This new assortment features the red-hot new cinematic version of Dr. Strange (little metal Benedict Cumberbatch!) balanced with the comic version of Spider-Man and his fantastic friends (and enemies). I generally gravitate to comic book-based figures, but the movie design for Dr. Strange is so strong, I really dig it, too, so there are a lot of winners here. It is hard to pick a favorite here, especially since Strange and Spidey capture the characters perfectly, and Venom is so imposing, but I will choose a wildcard and go with Spider-Gwen. I lover her design, and the pose is great, especially interacting with Spider-Man. Check out the gallery below!
