HIT: Lacoste

"I love this. It's kind of odd in some spots (the long sleeves at the end?) but I really am into the materials and styling." [kenndale]

"I like this Hermes feeling. Good collection, some pieces have to be in my closet next season. Great job. Lacoste is a such strong brand, the only thing that they should do is invest in the footwear. They could be huge, more than they are today." [whitewine92]

"Resembles the work of [Christophe] Lemaire at the time of his helm at Lacoste, I don't think it's a bad thing. I find most of these looks very cool and relaxed, which are words that I find relate to the brand." [GERGIN]

MISS: Thakoon

"Don't understand the praise this got, it is SO dull. I get that he has to make things that will sell immediately but really, it's nothing special." [gossiping]

"I feel like he has lost his edge, he used to be better in creative. Anyway it wasn't [creative] though but it's so generic." [elle_gb]

"I personally like a lot of the looks, but they're nothing really new or that exciting. I am particularly annoyed about how they had models in such warm and heavy clothing outside during such a disgustingly hot evening in New York. The girls look miserable and sweaty." [kenndale]

HIT: Diane von Furstenberg

"WOW, great move to DVF! Finally the clothes are talking something! I'm really enjoying what I'm seeing here, I hope this feeling grows in me with time." [whitewine92]

"It's really good and I wish it was presented as a show instead of a small presentation. Finally DVF has moved forward and got rid of that awful dated, ugly look. Truly exciting." [perhydrol]

"Oh, I like this a lot. This seems a very smart collection to me. I think I'd lost hope of seeing a DVF collection that didn't feel dated." [Edie123]

MISS: Jason Wu

"Proenza Schouler x Prabal Gurung x ODLR... this guy just wastes the time of NYFW." [perhydrol]

"Too many other designer references here as already mentioned. Was he always this unoriginal? Seriously asking. I mean the clothes are pretty but nothing distinct about it is memorable or has an identity attached to Wu." [nataliaapple]

"No brand identity whatsoever. Still coasting on Michelle Obama gown after all these years." [Yohji]

HIT: McQ by Alexander McQueen

"It's really good, I like this kind of grunge-y look mixed with sexy lace and all those slip dresses (the slip looks are the best here) and softness. I wish McQueen's main label was as good as McQ." [perhydrol]

"10/10 Would wear." [EstefaniaAbaddon]

"Great clothes." [ThatGuyPaul]

MISS: Alexander Wang

"I didn't like it. I miss his old days when he was dressing women and not teens." [IloveDiorHomme]

"On the one hand, I'm glad that post-Balenciaga Alex has quit trying to be a serious designer. He was never cut out for it, anyway. But on the other hand, I can't help but feel now that his shows - with their celebrity attendance and then the subsequent, infamous after parties are a whole lot of hoopla for very little collection." [dior_couture1245]

"Remember the days when he actually, you know, designed clothes." [Marc10]

It’s hard to believe the Spring 2017 shows are already in full swing at New York Fashion Week with Jonathan Saunders debuting his first collection for Diane von Furstenberg and Jason Wu unveiling his unexpectedly “unoriginal” collection. We aren’t even halfway through the shows and already our forum members have selected their favorites (and dislikes, of course). Here are the hits and misses for the Spring 2017 season so far.
