Francesca Liberatore tweaked the French manicure by opting for a matte pale pink base with an opaque finish. Oxblood tips and a long, rounded shape gave the nails a bit more edge.

Jenny Packham is a master at updating classic looks when it comes to clothes and the theme carried over to the nail art at the latest show. In lieu of the traditional pink and white French manicure, tips were painted with diagonal slashes of plum and dove gray.

The natural line of where a French manicure would be was lowered considerably at Prabal Gurung to almost mid-nail. Furthermore, the usual white nail polish was swapped for dove gray.

Modest Metals

Talk about short and sweet. Models at the Michael Costello show wore a shimmering champagne pink shade on short, slightly rounded nails.

You knew rose gold was going to be featured somewhere during fashion month. At Carmen Marc Valvo, nails were enhanced with a coat of trendy golden pink nail polish.

It's not just about gold and silver. Oscar de la Renta showed how lovely a slick of oyster nail polish can be on rounded, trimmed nails.

The nail look at Tadashi Shoji demonstrated that a metallic putty nail polish is as good as bronze or copper. The glittery tips helped seal the deal.

Exclamation Point

What may look like just the lighting is actually a clever nail art look. At Monse, digits were painted inky black. A metallic silver polish was added to the pinkie finger and part of the index fingernail as the finishing touch.

Zadig & Voltaire made accent nails the focus with two blue nails paired with eight natural ones. Then the brand threw everyone a curveball by applying black tape along the bottom edge of pinkies.

Cushnie et Ochs took the classic ivory manicure and added some edge to it with a delicate silver band. You can easily recreate the look yourself with some metallic nail tape.

Little Extra Something

Lead manicurist for Zoya Holly Falcone played up the gypsy grunge feel at the Nicole Miller show by applying a black nail polish to short, round nails. Little white symbols inspired by the collection were then added to random nails.

Fancy Finish

The manicures at Desigual show that sometimes it's OK to be a bit messy with your mani. Black and deep gray painterly swatches were applied to a neutral base.

Look beyond Lanyu's bold eyebrows and admire the soft textural effect created by haphazardly applying pale yellow nail polish to the nails.
