Paris, France – Polish designer Eva Minge returned to the couture world with the presentation of her new Fall Winter 2015/16 collection. In it the designer seeks to dazzle women in black and white.
The collection has its interesting moments in the form of the DIVINE goddess-like gown shown in all white. Long, sleeveless and with a dangerous hint of sexual appeal in the form of a well placed split on the leg, it is perhaps the most tasteful of the sexy looks. Then there is the full black and white ballroom gown that shows the designer’s newly found penchant for classic refinement.
In all honesty the collection does have its fair share of questionable issues. First it is severely lacking in the pre-requisite refinements and ornamentations that define today’s couture. Other than lace and a handful of embroideries, one cannot so easily detect any of the others. And two and quite possibly more severely, Minge should accept the fact that even the most talented of couturiers and designers must work with stylists. Had she done so, one would have seen sunglasses in her show.
And lastly the collection is in dire need of proper editing. Without this no couturier can expect to do well. After all if she is expecting to grow her American clientele, she should already know that in North America women of the couture level still cling to some old-fashion traditions. And those women categorically continue to refuse to wear white after Labor Day.
