Fact: Charles Godfrey tends an organic garden in his free time

Atlanta Falcons safety Charles Godfrey has an enormous chip on his shoulder. The veteran defensive back is entering his eighth year in the NFL, almost one year removed from his seven year tenure with the Carolina Panthers. During his first season as an Atlanta Falcon, he was largely used on special teams, a turn of events that was undoubtedly tough to swallow. But now that Dan Quinn is at the helm, he's the favorite to win the free safety job.

"(I have the) ability to get to the ball and to make plays when I get to the ball," Godfrey said. "Also, my ability to see the whole field. I have a long ways to go; I'm far from there ... I don't let myself get complacent," he added. "Yeah, I'm motivated ..."

As Allen Strk pointed out yesterday, Godfrey is the only true free safety on the roster. He will battle it out with converted corner back Ricardo Allen and Kemal Ishmael. The former just began his conversion two months ago, while the latter struggles in coverage. If there's a depth-related recipe for disaster on this team, look no further, here it is.
