Here is the simple fix for the following error: “You have been denied permission to access this folder. To gain access to this folder you will need to use the security tab”.
This is an old Windows problem that just never goes away. It happens especially with USB flash drives or when moving files from computer to computer. Fortunately the problem is not hard to solve. Simply follow these steps:
Right-Click the folder causing the issue
Click Properties
Click on the Security Tab
Click Advanced
Click Owner
Click Edit
Select your username and then make sure “Replace owner on subcontainers and objects” is checked
Click Apply
Through this process you have taken ownership of the folder and now you can open and modify it as you wish!
