Wednesday, October 7th

A new quarterly tech, life business magazine – Boston Bubble launches tonight at Bastille Kitchen (49 Melchner St, Southie). You can support their non-profit journalistic cause by joining in the celebration and purchasing a copy!

Support Race, Identity & Art: A Forum for Student Art & Dialogue at the Howard Thurman Center (775 Commonwealth Ave) at Boston University starting at 6:00 pm. There will be a presentation and discussion with photo-based artist Stacey Tyrell on her work and how she approaches issues of race and identity and an opening reception. Refreshments will be served. This event is FREE and open to the public.The exhibit runs through October 21st.

Thursday, October 8th

The Copley Society of Art (158 Newbury Street) is pleased to announce Entangled Rhymes featuring the art of Percy Fortini-Wright with an opening reception from 5:30pm to 7:30 pm. The artist is known for his innovative combination of graffiti vernacular with traditional formats and techniques, commonly combining oil paint with spray paint in the same painting. This is his first solo opening so support!

Julian Mitchell, award winning content creator and contributing writer at Forbes and The Huffington post will be hosting a talk at Fairmont Innovations Lab (584 Columbus Rd) 6:00pm – 8:00pm. The REVOLT Network social media-director will be explaining the new business model for creators and how to capitalize on the wave of authentic entrepreneurship. This event is FREE and open to the public.

Community Members will be discussing The State of Education: A Conversation about Academics in the Commonwealth at Roxbury Community College (1234 Columbus Ave, Roxbury) 6:00pm – 8:00pm. Panelists will include: James Peyser – Secretary of Education, Makeeba McCreary – Chief of Staff for Boston School Superintendent Dr. Tommy Chang, Boston City Councilor Tito Jackson, Richard Stutman – President of the Boston Teacher’s Union, Mark Culliton – Chief Executive Officer of College Bound Dorchester and Will Austin – Chief Executive Officer at Boston School Fund. This event is FREE and open to the public.

Join Future Boston, Art Is Life Itself! (#AiLiLIVE), and Haley House Bakery Cafe (12 Dade St, Roxbury) for an evening of live performances and spoken word. Featuring poet Toni Bee. Sign up for the open mic and display your talent. This event is FREE. Food and drinks will be available for purchase.

Friday, October 9th

Today kicks off The Black in Design Conference, organized by the African American Student Union (AASU) at the Harvard Graduate School of Design (GSD) taking place at the Harvard Graduate School of Design (48 Quincy St, Cambridge) starting at 3:00pm. The conference recognizes the contributions of African Descendants to the design fields and wants to broaden our definition of what it means to be a designer. Saturday, October 10th

Fashion’s Night OUTlet is coming to Assembly Row (300 Grand Union Blvd) 6:00pm – 9:00pm for a stylish evening of events, giveaways and shopping with a ton of in-store promotions. This event is FREE and open to the public.

P.L.A.Y. – Poetry, Light, Art You is coming to Lansdowne Street. The new participatory project has been created to facilitate experimentation, play and the live moment  and is hosted by artist and curator Dell M. Hamilton  6:30pm – 12:30am.
