You have decided, or someone decided for you, that you will set up the candy buffet, dessert table for a party or event. The very thought of it makes you tired. You browse through websites, DIY craft sites, and search the internet for an idea of something you can do that looks polished and put together but takes almost no time. If you try really hard you think you can squeeze a few hours from your already overloaded schedule sometime after 2 A.M. in the week of the event. We have all been there. Relax. The truth is, if you follow a few simple steps, you can put together an awesome candy buffet in record time and with much less effort than you think.

Steps to set up a candy buffet in minutes:

Decide on the theme and the colors of the table

The theme will be the theme of the event and the colors will match it

Limit to no more than three colors (different hues are okay) and if you can get away with two colors, do so. For two color buffets do bolder colors like pink and green, or yellow and blue

Select your bulk candy supplier

You want to be able to order your candy online and in bulk

You want to have your candy arrive when you need it and delivered to where it is needed. Anything that can be sent direct saves you time.

Gather essentials

You will need three to four tall clear containers for the back section

Four shorter, wider containers for the mid-section’

A centerpiece

Tongs and scoops

Three or four short tray style containers for the front zone

Goodie bags

Two to four props to decorate the table

A table covering

(optional) a backdrop

Hint: You probably have friends or family who have everything you need since candy buffets are very popular so don’t hesitate to ask!

Another Hint: If this is a new adventure, consider ordering a starter kit from your candy supplier.

Ordering candy

You will need about eight ounces of candy per guests. Most candy is purchased in five-pound bags.

Have a few individually wrapped special candies for a front tray. Plan on one per guest

Hint: Save time by telling your bulk supplier what kind of candy and what colors you want. He will usually be able to put together an order for you and all you have to do is approve it.

Visual

Standing in front of the table, looking at the entire buffet, you should see a triangle shape in your mind’s eye.  The table is the base, the jars graduate from low to high in the center and you can use draped cloth, ribbons, branches or other props as a backdrop to draw the eye.

Your centerpiece can be anything you want it to be. A three-tiered cupcake holder of cupcakes or candy cups makes a nice centerpiece. You can use a prop from your theme (stuffed animal, toy, wedding decor, signage, florals, fruits, or candles).

That is it. Place the jars in the zones explained. Fill them with the colored candy. Place your centerpiece, and add your personal touches.

The personal touch should be something unique. A name plaque of the couple having a child and baby pictures of the parents. A Mr. & Mrs sign of the couple getting married. Happy birthday props, balloons, party favors, crafts and LED lights all make a unique table. With the help of your supplier, you have a great candy buffet in record time.
