So, how about the fireworks and flash flooding?

First of all, I hope you are all having a fantastic Independence Day!

Now, as far as the fireworks go, there area already some showers moving in to East Central PA. These showers will move northeastward into Northeastern PA, Central and Northern NJ over the next couple of hours. So, you may get a bit wet if you are heading out to the fireworks in these areas and there is even a slight chance they could be cancelled, especially in East Central PA.

Then, as you head further Northeast towards NYC, Southeastern NY State, and Western Long Island, the showers should start around the time the fireworks start, or possibly a bit before, so if you are heading out to the Macy's fireworks in New York City, make sure you have an umbrella with you just in case.  As you go further northeast on Eastern Long Island and Fairfield County, CT, the showers could possibly start just after the fireworks come to an end, if you are lucky.

As far as where the heavy rains with flash flooding potential will be, it still looks as if the best bet is across Central NJ, and possibly into East Central, PA, Northern NJ, New York City, extreme Southeastern NY State, Southern Fairfield County, CT, and Long Island, maybe. It is not however clear that the heavy precipitation with flooding rains will come that far north, but it could, so be on the lookout, especially across Central NJ. Wherever the heaviest rain falls 1-2 inches is likely in a short time, so flash flooding will likely occur.

Moving beyond this, Tuesday will be nice after the rain comes to an end early in the morning on Eastern Long Island, and then the next story will be the heat Wednesday and Thursday with highs likely reaching the low 90's Wednesday in many inland locations and the low to mid 90's Thursday. There will be a slight chance of an afternoon or evening shower or thunderstorm Thursday.

Friday there will be a bit better chance of a shower or thunderstorm and it will still be warm with highs mainly in the upper 80's.

Saturday there will be a good chance of showers and thunderstorms as a cold front passes through our area. Highs will be mainly in the low to mid 80's.

Sunday through next Wednesday then look nice with highs mainly in the 80's, although possibly into the low 90's next Wednesday.

Next Thursday and Friday there will be a chance of showers and thunderstorms as a cold front approaches our area. Highs will likely be in the 80's to low 90's.

Next Saturday and Sunday then look nice with highs mainly in the 80's.

Have a wonderful evening and keep your fingers crossed for the fireworks tonight.

Don’t forget to install the new Edge Weather app if you did not already do so.

Search “edgeweather” in the Apple App Store or in the Google Play Store.

The fastest way to access the Edge Weather forecasts through the app is to click on the Edge Weather logo on the top third of the screen, or under the buttons for the Edge Weather Forecasts under the “About Edge Weather” and “Social Media” sections of the app.

Some improvements in the new app:

Useful links now available on the side bar that can be accessed by pressing the blue button on the top right of the screen. The useful links has access to key terms, local weather links, radar links, satellite links, and prior forecasts when I forecast storms from two weeks in advance.

Under "Social Media" you will find links to easily access Edge Weather on Twitter and on Facebook, as well as a new feature, “Edge Weather Forum”, where you can share any thoughts and ideas, and now Edge Weather YouTube videos!

Also added was an option to share the app with your friends in the "About Edge Weather" and "Social Media" sections of the app, as well as on the side bar, so please go ahead and share the app with your friends.

Enjoy and submit your recommendations under the appropriate link.  I am always looking for good ideas.
