Note 3 Alarm Clock Snoozes On Its Own After Lollipop Update

Problem: Thanks for putting this together, it is a great idea.  I have read most of the posts and they are extremely helpful. I came across my first issue my Note 3 after updating to 5.0.  I have a Note 3 on Verizon with s view case.  I have a Pressy  button inserted, but my issue happens with or without it.  I use my alarm quite a lot on the phone and it seems to be snoozing on its own, before I have a chance to react to it.  I checked for any setting and it all otherwise checks out.  This is happening both in the stock alarm clock and any third party I have tried.  I have a feeling it has something to do with the case.  But any insight you can offer would be great. Take care.

Solution: Try using your phone without the S View case and see if the alarm issue still occurs. If it still occurs then it’s not likely caused by the case.

Your next step is to clear the cache and data of the clock application

From the home screen, tap the Apps icon.

Tap Settings.

From the General tab, tap Application manager.

Swipe left to the ALL tab.

Scroll to and tap the Clock application.

Tap Clear cache.

Tap Clear data

The application cache and data is now cleared.

If the issue still persists then wipe the cache partition of your phone.

Turn off the device.

Press and hold the following three buttons at the same time: Volume Up key, Home key, Power key

When ‘GALAXY Note III’ appears on the screen, let go of the Power key but continue to press and hold the Volume Up key and the Home key.

When the Android System Recovery screen appears, release the Volume Up and Home keys.

Press the Volume Down key to highlight ‘wipe cache partition.’

Press the Power key to select and wipe the cache.

With ‘reboot system now’ highlighted, press the Power key to restart the device.

Note 3 S Pen Not Working After Lollipop Update

Problem: Hi.. i’ve been reading your articles on Q&A on troubles after lollipop update on samsung galaxy note 3. I read someone was experiencing trouble when using s pen. Rite now when i clicked the s pen, the action memo even not appeared on the screen. Understand that your solution is try to factory reset the phone. But could you pls share the result? Is that factory reset useful to solve this matter or is that software problem only? And what is the impact of factory reset? What data should i expect to be gone and how to restore that?

Solution: You have to make sure that Air Command is enabled when you use the S Pen. Open Settings –  Device – S Pen then make sure that it is set to Air Command. With the Lollipop update the default setting is Off so this may be the reason why you are having the issue.

If the settings are correct and the issue still remains then a factory reset is highly recommended. Take note that you will have to back up your phone data first before proceeding.

Turn off the device.

Press and hold the following three buttons at the same time: Volume Up key, Home key, Power key.

When ‘GALAXY Note 3′ appears on the screen, release the Power key but continue to press and hold the Volume Up key and the Home key.

Press the Volume down key to highlight ‘wipe data / factory reset.’

Note 3 S Voice Not Working After Lollipop Update

Problem: My Svoice does not work when I call upon it. My voice does not activate my phone when I say Answer or Reject (and the settings are clicked). I really hate the fact that my Svoice no longer works even since the supposedly cool update. It use to be when I would hear a text come in while driving I could simple say “Hi Galaxy”t and when its little chime noise I would say ‘Read text’, it would automatically go into speaker phone and read my text aloud…it no longer does that.  I do have hands free, but I do not want that on all time.  Svoice would just turn it on would ask read a new text. send a text or place a call..I would simply say Hi Galaxy from the sleep mode and it would turn on. Help, I really loved this feature ..and it would all happen while the screen was black and in sleep mode I guess it what it is called.

Solution: You should first check your phone settings and make sure that voice prompt is activated. To do this open the S Voice app then tap the three-point icon at the top right, which will now open a small menu. Here you can see the option “Enable voice prompt”, tap this to reactivate the voice feedback of S Voice on your device.

Note Can’t Add Text Template

Problem: Hi, I’m trying to use a text template that I’ve saved in the text templates area/file. However I cannot add this or any of the templates to any message. Looking around the web I see instructions for doing this but when I access the menu to add the template there is no option for this. I have “Insert smiley”, “Add subject”, “Add slide”, “Schedule message”, “Discard” and “Font size”. No Add text or text template, any ideas? Note 3 on TalkTalk with Android Version 5.0.

Solution: Are you using the stock messaging app? If you are and there is no option to add a template then this may be an issue with the app itself. Try clearing the cache and data of the messaging app.

From the home screen, tap the Apps icon.

Tap Settings.

From the General tab, tap Application manager.

Swipe left to the ALL tab.

Scroll to and tap the Messaging application.

Tap Clear cache.

Tap Clear data

The application cache and data is now cleared.

I bought the phone off my sister and it hasn’t word the whole time I’ve had it please help I have tried to clear the stuff I’ve reset iv tried everything I seen on the Internet and nothing has worked…

Solution:  The first thing you should do is to clear the cache and data of the camera app.

From the home screen, tap the Apps icon.

Tap Settings.

From the General tab, tap Application manager.

Swipe left to the ALL tab.

Scroll to and tap the Camera application.

Tap Clear cache.

When ‘GALAXY Note 3′ appears on the screen, release the Power key. Immediately after releasing the Power key, press and hold the Volume down key.

Continue to hold the Volume down key until the device finishes restarting.

‘Safe mode’ will display in the bottom left corner of the screen. Release the Volume down key when you see ‘Safe Mode.’

If the problem does not occur then it is likely caused by a third party app installed in your phone. Find out what app this is and uninstall it.

Note 3 Screen Capture With S Pen Not Working After Lollipop Update

Problem: First, I want to say that I greatly appreciate all the hard work and time that you dedicate to helping us in myriad ways. I have a Note 3 with Sprint. When Lollipop arrived on my phone over 2 months ago and insisted incessantly that I install it, I finally bit the bullet and installed. What a mistake. It made my Note overheat and my beloved Note began behaving strangely.  I went to Sprint, who when they saw how messed up it was replaced my Note 3 with a new one, because I had insurance.  Nice folks! When Lollipop showed up on my new Note, insisting incessantly that I install it, I went to Sprint. They did a factory reset, after saving my pics, then installed Lollipop. Then, they did a second factory reset before putting my pics back. Everything turned out relatively well, except for the fact that my Pen will no longer perform Screen Capture. Have you heard whether there will be any patch for that? I would appreciate any input you might have. Thanks again.

Solution: You need to make sure that Air Command is enabled first.

From the Home screen, touch Apps

Now try to take a screenshot

Open Air Command by holding the S Pen about a quarter-inch above the device’s screen.

Note 3 Network Issues

Problem: I just bought my Samsung Galaxy Note 3 this week. unfortunately things have not been  going my way  due to a couple of Network errors being displayed. the following are issues I have been facing so far. NOTE: the  Sim Card I am using is from My SAMSUNG GALAXY S3, of which  the sim card still works fine in that phone

Error While searching for Network.  My phone keeps loosing Network every now and then whenever it looses network  the first solution I normally use is searching for available networks under network settings, unfortunately I often end up with Error While searching for Network. restarting the phone frequently sometimes fixes this problem though it is not reliable Insert SIM card to access network services, this is another frustrating error, this one occurs when I restart the phone after encountering the above error. the SIM Card wont be recognized. this one sometimes fixes itself  after sometime, or restarting the phone frequently  also fixes the issue. though it re-appears after a couple of hours. Not Registered on Network, sometimes under network settings I encounter this error in the process of fixing the above mentioned errors. all in all the phone has been frustrating.

Attempts

I have goggled around the internet without any success. hopefully you can save the frustrations I have had so far. Thanks in Advance

Solution: If the SIM card works perfectly fine in your other phone then the issue may be with the Note 2. The first thing you should check is if this issue is caused by a software glitch. To do this, you need to back up your phone data and do a factory reset.

Turn off the device.

Press and hold the following three buttons at the same time: Volume Up key, Home key, Power key.

When ‘GALAXY Note 3′ appears on the screen, release the Power key but continue to press and hold the Volume Up key and the Home key.

When the Android System Recovery screen appears, release the Volume Up and Home keys.

Press the Volume down key to highlight ‘wipe data / factory reset.’

Press Power button to select.

Press the Volume down key to highlight ‘delete all user data.’

Press Power button to select and start the master reset. When the master reset is complete, ‘Reboot system now’ is highlighted.

Press the Power key to turn the restart the device.

If the problem still persists after the factory reset then this may already be a hardware related issue. You need to bring your phone to an authorized service center for checking.

Note 3 Removing Apps That Cause Issues

Problem: Hi droid guy, It’s me again. I read all of your solutions you give to owners of Galaxy Note 3 smartphones. Often your solution is to restart in safe mode and then remove the offending third party apps that may cause the problem. You tell them to start with the latest ones installed and work backwards from there. My question is simple: How am I supposed to remember the order of apps I installed? Is there either on the phone, or in my Play Store account, a calendar list of the apps installed? I know I can see all of the apps I installed in the Play Store, but wonder if there is a calendar order of apps I installed. This would be very helpful to your answer given.

Solution: There is no available timeline list of the apps you have installed in a particular device as of now. The best way to proceed is to use the trial and error method in uninstalling apps. If the issue disappears when you uninstall a particular app then that app may be causing the issue.

Note 3 Not Getting Lollipop Update

Problem: I have a unlocked note 3 and have tried doing the software updates to get lollipop but it never finds the update, I am on at&t network. Any suggestions? Thank You

Solution: You have to make sure first that your phone is not rooted or running on a custom software first. If it is then your phone won’t be able to get the official Lollipop update. If your phone is running on stock software and not rooted but it still isn’t getting the notification of an update then what you can do is connect it using a USB cord to a computer running on Kies. Once connected and if there are no issues you will be notified of an update. Just follow the onscreen instructions to update your phone software.

Note 3 Email Has Stopped Working After Lollipop Update

Problem: Hello, I recently upgraded my Samsung Galaxy Note 3 to the most recent upgrade and since that time, when I attempt to open my e-mail, it opens then quickly closes giving me the following notification “e-mail has stopped working.” Is this a known problem and how do I fix it or how do I reverse the upgrade? Thanks.

Solution: This issue may be caused by a glitch with the email app itself. If you have any important emails I suggest making a backup. You should also take note of your email settings as you may have to set it up again.

To resolve this issue you should clear the cache and data of the email app you are using.

From the home screen, tap the Apps icon.

Tap Settings.

From the General tab, tap Application manager.

Swipe left to the ALL tab.

Scroll to and tap the email application.

Tap Clear cache.

Tap Clear data

The application cache and data is now cleared.

If the issue persists then wipe the cache partition of your phone.

Note 3 No Notification

Problem: Hi! I have the same problem on 2 different phones. Each is on a different carrier. Both are upgraded to lollipop a few weeks ago.   This problem started this morning. After ruling out everything else, the only thing left is the actual Android OS.

Phone #1: Note3 ATT

Phone #2: Note4 Verizon

Problem is I have no notification sounds for texts or for calls.

I’m missing important calls!

Sound on video like youtube is OK. When a call comes in, I can see it on the screen, and if I answer I can talk normally. If I’m on a call, I can get the sound of another call coming in (ATT sound), plus the same thing happens with Verizon, so it’s not an issue with the carrier. I have restarted them, checked all the settings, all the volumes are on high. Other detail:  When I’m on the Sounds section picking a ringtone, I don’t hear them as I’m selecting, which I used to. I do hear the vibration intensity when I’m selecting that. They were working fine until a few hours ago. Help!

Solution: The first thing to check is your phone settings. Try to set the notification mode to all. Go to Settings -> Sound & notification -> Interruptions. Set it to All. Also, use the volume rocker key and set the volume to its maximum level.

Note 3 Music Has Stopped Error After Lollipop Update

Problem: Hello, My Galaxy Note 3 gives me the message “Unfortunately, Music has stopped” each time I click on the Artists tab in the native Music player app.

Solution: You need to clear the cache and data of your music app to resolve this issue. Take note that if you have any playlists or custom settings set you will have to set this up again.

From the home screen, tap the Apps icon.

Tap Settings.

From the General tab, tap Application manager.

Swipe left to the ALL tab.

Scroll to and tap the Music application.

Tap Clear cache.

Tap Clear data

The application cache and data is now cleared.

Note 3 Battery Drain / Text Message Issue After Lollipop Update

Problem: Hello, and thank you for taking the time to read my email. Since the new lollipop update I have found that battery usage is not what it used to be. My husband and I both have Samsung Note 3s and they both use batteries very quickly now since the lollipop update. It is strange that this only started happening since we did the update. I have tried to make sure that there are not programs running in the background as much as I could. The second issue that I am having and also I know two other people having the same, so it is not exclusive to me. When I am sending and receiving text from someone oftentimes the text that I send appears on the screen after the one that someone else sent. Even though the text that they sent is in reply to my text. It is very difficult to have a conversation like this because I cannot keep up with what message came when. So it is if it is an active message back and forth within the same minute or two, it does this. Thanks again for your time.

Solution: A lot of people who updated their phones to Lollipop have been complaining of this battery drain issue. If you have already performed all of the necessary steps such as turning of services that are not used and making sure that no unnecessary apps are running in the background then you may need to perform a factory reset. Just make sure to back up your phone data before proceeding. This procedure may even resole the text messaging issue you are having.
