Note 2 Deleting Folders

Problem: My Samsung Galaxy Note 2 is telling me that it is running out of storage. I have a lot of pictures on it. I want to delete a folder but I can’t find how to do that. I can select the folder but then I can’t find a place that says delete. I’m sure it’s easy-please help direct me to that. Also, can I select a group of pictures not in a folder and delete all at once? Kind of like using Ctrl to randomly select items in outlook? Please advise.

Solution: Sometimes it is important to delete unnecessary folders in your phone as its storage capacity decreases. One important thing to remember though is that when you delete a folder anything inside that folder will also be deleted so you should check the contents of the folder first if anything important is inside.

To delete a folder

Open the App Screen.

Press Edit.

Hold the folder and move it up until you see the trash bin.

To delete selected photos from your phone open the Gallery then go to the folder where the photos are stored. Press and hold one of the photos that you would like to delete. You will notice little boxes will appear on the upper right hand side of the photos in the folder. The photo that you selected will automatically have a check mark inside the box. Tap on the small box of the other photos (make sure you see a check mark) that you would like to delete. Once you have selected all the photos that you want to delete then click on the delete icon which is located on the upper right side of the display.

Note 2 “Charging paused. Battery temperature too low” Error Message

Problem: Hello, I first wanted to say thank you very much for taking the time help fellow android users with their various problems. You have some great knowledge and people like you help make the technology world an even better place than it is.

So from reading one of your posts, you said to email you with any specific problems and to be as detailed as possible. Below is a detailed description of the problem I am currently having with my Samsung Galaxy Note 2.

Last night I accidentally dropped my Samsung Galaxy Note 2 in the toilet (Fortunately it was already flushed and there was nothing but clean water in the bowl)…Anyways, I immediately took the phone out and wiped it down and took off the back case and the battery. It did not seem as if the battery or any of the insides got wet, but it was completely engulfed in water for about 5 seconds, so I am pretty sure that some water definitely did get in.

Anyways, when I first turned it on, it worked fine, then it shut off. I then removed the battery again and put the battery and the phone into a bowl of rice for a couple of hours. When I put it back together the phone turned on again! Everything seems to work fine with the phone now, EXCEPT when I try to charge it.

When I plug my phone into the charger, this message comes up, “Charging paused. Battery temperature too low.”

I initially thought that this probably meant that the water had ruined the battery, but that the phone was okay. Fortunately, I have two other spare batteries that I tried and BOTH of them still brought up the same error message on my phone. I also tried using 3 different usb cables and power sources because I wanted to rule out every possible source of the problem and they all gave the same message still. I even tried connecting the usb cord from my phone into my laptop – when i did this, the computer recognized the device and asking if i wanted it in installer mode or media transfer, etc… but still gave me the message on my phone saying, “Charging paused. Battery temperature too low.”

I believe that it is reasonable to come to the conclusion that there is some sort of problem with the phone and not the battery or anything else. The phone works fine except that I am not able to charge a battery with it. In order to charge the battery, i have to plug it into an broken device that can charge the phone only but nothing else and then put that battery back into my working phone.

My question is this – What do you think the exact problem is that is not allowing the phone to charge a battery? Do you think that it is possible that there is still water remaining inside the phone and that maybe it will dry and go back to normal in a couple of days? Some other forums have said that this may be a problem with the “charging port” and that replacing the charging port with a new one can fix this problem.

What do think is the best option to fix this problem? I have no more insurance claims available for the phone this year.

Thank you in advance for your help and all the other work you do online to help the android community. I really appreciate it!

Best Regards.

Solution: From the way you describe the problem it appears that your phone has been affected by water damage. There are various components inside your phone that when damaged may lead to this error message. There’s the charger port flex, the charger board, or even the main board. The thing is, the only way to be sure which part is damaged is to open the phone and to test out each component. Your best option then is to bring your phone to an authorized service center for checking.

Note 2 Network Disabled While On 3G

Problem: I need help, I bought a Samsung galaxy note 2 at&t and since then i have not been able to use 3g…anytime its on 3g, network would be disabled. .do you have any idea why?

Solution: Try to check first if this is a network issue. You can do this by inserting another SIM in your phone and see if the issue still persists. You should also check if the issue occurs only in a particular area.

If the network appears to be good then it’s time to troubleshoot the phone. Make sure your phone is running on the latest software update before proceeding.

The first thing that you should do is to reboot your phone by taking out its battery while it is still turned on. Reinsert the battery after 30 seconds and turn on your phone.

If the issue still persists then try to turn on airplane mode then turn it off again.

To eliminate any possible software related glitch you should also consider performing a factory reset. Make sure to backup all your phone data before proceeding.

Turn off the device.

Press and hold the following three buttons at the same time: Volume Up key, Home key, Power key.

When ‘GALAXY Note II’ appears on the screen, release the Power key but continue to press and hold the Volume Up key and the Home key.

When the Android System Recovery screen appears, release the Volume Up and Home keys.

Press the Volume down key to highlight ‘wipe data / factory reset.’

Press Power button to select.

Press the Volume down key to highlight ‘delete all user data.’

Press Power button to select and start the master reset. When the master reset is complete, ‘Reboot system now’ is highlighted.

Press the Power key to turn the restart the device.

If the problem still persists after the factory reset then there is a possibility that this may already be a hardware related problem. You should then bring your phone to an authorized service center for checking.

Note 2 Boots to Safe Mode

Problem: Dear Droid guy, I know you have addressed this problem of note 2 getting in safe mode many times. But in my case nothing is helping. I haven’t tried factory reset yet though (keeping it my last option). So the problem started like when I removed earphones from the phone and plugged the phone to charging point tried watching a video but couldn’t hear anything and so I switched it off.. restarted it and Bam…! it was on safe mode. I am unable to hear any call without the speaker mode. Also the volume button is working on its own going into vibration mode again n again, Don’t know why.. Please HELP.. Big trouble. Mine is GT-N7100 2 years old.

Solution: It appears that the Volume down button is constantly being activated. This causes your phone to go into vibration mode. This is also the reason as to why your phone boots into Safe Mode when you restart it.

In most cases like this it’s very likely that the problem is hardware related. There’s also a slim chance that this may be software related in which case a factory reset may help.

If you have already ruled out any software related causes then your best option is to bring the phone to an authorized service center for checking.

Note 2 Bricked During Software Update

Problem: My galaxy note 2 got corrupted during update and now when i turn it on it gives me a bricked white screen; pls how do i get it fixed and you have the softwares i can use in fixing this problem kindly send me a copy and instructions on how to use it please.

Solution: You should try using Kies to do an emergency firmware recovery on your phone. Download the latest version of Kies from the Samsung website and install it in your computer. Once the software is installed and running connect your phone using a USB cor to the computer.

Click Tools > Emergency firmware recovery.

Select your device from the list. Your device will be in the list only if it requires a recovery. (Take note of the Recovery code. This code is used when restoring your device from another computer.)

Switch your device to recovery mode using the steps displayed in Kies.

Click Start upgrade.

Note 2 Charging, Battery Drain Issue

Problem: Hi Guys, I have seen your suggestion on sites and seems that you are the guys who can help customers out of the way. Thanks for the kind job. My issue is that I have purchased Samsung galaxy note 2 and from the device I always having the issue with the charger and battery draining issue. Once it was rectify from the service center it will come back in every 3 months. I really don’t know what is wrong with my device. I also did all the things but not able to come out with this. Service center is also give me the device back after updating the software from their side but the issue raised again in next three months although my phone is always remains up to date for all the firmware and security policy. I also checked it in another way like replace my battery with another set which is operating correctly but the issue with slow charging is there some time in 7 to 8 hours its only charge 20 to 30 percent. I also exchange the charger as well but nothing changes with my device where as another phone is charging properly with my charger. Kindly help me in this issue. I will be very thankful to you guys if I could resolve this issue with you.

Solution: If the issue appears after around 3 months since it was serviced then it is very likely that an app or a service running in your phone is causing this charging and battery drain issue.

You should try to do a factory reset on your phone then observe its charging behavior. Do not install any apps first, just let your phone run using the default apps. Make sure to backup your data first.

If the charging and battery drain issue disappears then it is most likely caused by an app that you previously installed. What you should do is install your apps on at a time. Observe the charging and battery drain behavior of your phone after installing every app then proceed to the next app if you don;t find any issues. When you get to the part where after installing an app the issues appear again then you have discovered the app causing the problem. Uninstall this app from your phone.

Note 2 Power Button Issue

Problem: I have a Samsung Galaxy Note 2, it was working fine, but than there was this problem about my power button. I would try to switch off my phone to stand-by mode but it couldn’t, but it can actually power off. If i have a quick press on the power button, nothing will happen.. but when i hold the power button longer, the power off menu will pop out as usual.. can you help me with this?

Solution: I looks like this is a hardware related issue. There may be an issue with the contact points of your power button. There may be something blocking the contact points such as dirt making it difficult for you to press the button.

There’s also a slim chance that this is a software related issue. To check if this is the case you should start your phone in Safe Mode.

Turn off the Galaxy Note 2 by pressing the Power button (positioned in the right edge of the device). Tap Power Off from the choices that will appear followed by OK.

Once the device successfully shuts down, press the Power button again, but this time, keep your finger pressed on it together with the Volume Down button.

Let go of the Power button when you see the Samsung Galaxy Note II logo but do not let go of the Volume Down key yet.

After that, you will see a status message telling you that your Galaxy Note 2 is now in Safe Mode. Let go of the Volume Down key and tap the OK button.

If in Safe Mode your power button doesn’t respond normally then you should bring your phone to an authorized service center for checking and repair.

Note 2 Does Not Turn On If Charger Not Connected

Problem: Hi..I have problem with my Samsung note 2..I cannot use if not charging..it says 100 percent charged but when I take out the charger it turns off and become 0 percent battery. But when I put back the charger battery becomes almost fully charged. When i turn on without charger on it,it just display the phone model, then turn off then phone model again. And when I open the phone with charger on it displays Factory mode on. Hope you will help me from this problem on my phone. Thanks.

Solution: Try replacing your battery with a new one and see if that solves the issue. Your battery may already be faulty causing your phone not to turn on when the charger is disconnected. This my also be the reason why your phone is booting into Factory mode.

Note 2 Does Not Turn On

Problem: Hi all, I was charging up my Samsung Galaxy Note 2 at 74%. About 15 mins later when I took a look at it, the screen of the phone blanked out and I was unable to power up the phone after that. I have already tried to reset the phone by pressing the Vol UP, HOME and POWER buttons together and it is still the same. Kindly advise.

Solution: You should first try to drain any residual power from your phone by taking out the battery then press and hold the power button for at least 3 minutes. Now reinsert the battery and try to turn on your phone.

If your phone does not turn on then connect it to your wall charger and let it charge for 15 minutes. Attempt to turn on your phone.

If the problem still persists then try replacing your battery with a new one.

Note 2 Call Log Issue

Problem: I have been using the galaxy note 2 for quite some time now. I am now facing an issue. My call log is stuck and it doesn’t show me incoming and missed and outgoing logs. Also some times my contacts get erased automatically. Please give some suggestions.

Solution: Several owners of this device who have also experienced this issue say that a software update usually helps resolve the issue. Try checking first if there are any updates available for your phone. Install the updates if there are any available. These updates come with improvements an bug fixes that may help resolve the issue.

If your phone has the latest update but the problem is still present then a temporary solution is to hold your phone horizontally instead of vertically. By rotating your phone horizontally the call log will be displayed normally.

You should also make sure to use the stock launcher of your phone as certain third party launchers are known to cause this issue.

Note 2 Call Dialing Delay

Problem: Hi there – caught your Q&A session via google. I have a galaxy note 2, and some time ago (couple months maybe?) I started having the oddest issue …. It literally takes 15-20 seconds to DIAL out a phone call. I Can type #’s or bring up a contact just fine, or even click on a phone number link via a website, etc – but once I press “send”, NOTHING happens …. Until 20 seconds later. Then the dialup screen magically reappears and the call goes out ….. I simply cant figure out WHY or WHERE (app change? Setting change?) this is happening.

Solution: This issue could be caused by too many apps running in the background causing your phone to run out of memory which can cause the delay. This could also be caused by some corrupt temporary data.

To check if this is an issue with too many apps running in the background you should boot your phone in Safe Mode.

If you don’t experience any lag in this mode then you should consider uninstalling some of your apps. Start with the apps that you rarely use as these may be using valuable system resources.

If the issue still occurs even in Safe Mode then this may be caused by a corrupt temporary data. You can fix this by wiping the cache partition of your phone. This does not delete your personal data.

Turn off the device.

Press and hold the following three buttons at the same time: Volume Up key, Home key, Power key

When ‘GALAXY Note II’ appears on the screen, let go of the Power key but continue to press and hold the Volume Up key and the Home key.

When the Android System Recovery screen appears, release the Volume Up and Home keys.

Press the Volume Down key to highlight ‘wipe cache partition.’

Press the Power key to select and wipe the cache.

With ‘reboot system now’ highlighted, press the Power key to restart the device.

Note 2 Not Receiving Calls

Problem: Hi my husbands note 2 will not receive calls It happens often. Yesterday I stood beside his phone it showed 4 bars and it would not ring through. We have done a factory reset, installed a cell booster in our home, checked and double checked the settings, contacted Samsung and they told us it’s out of warranty sorry about your luck Was purchased April 2013. Any suggestions. Everything else works fine.

Solution: It looks like you have already done everything that is possible on your end to resolve the issue. Since the problem still persists this may already be a hardware related issue. Your best option is to bring the phone to an authorized service center for checking and repair.

Note 2 MMS Not Working

Problem: My Note 2 just stopped sending picture mail all of a sudden. Now sometimes it works and other times it does not. I can send text and receive pictures, but I cannot send any. Do you know what the problem is? It keeps saying ERROR: NETWORK ERROR OCCURRED.

Solution: This might be a carrier related issue that concerns the network mobile data. Try to reboot your phone to re-establish its connection wit the network. If that does not work try to check the issue in different areas and see if it still persists. You may also want to contact the technical support team of your carrier and inquire if there are any network related issues in your area.

Note 2 Camera Lag When Taking Picture

Problem: The camera on my Note 2 has become slow. There is a 2 to 3 second lag between pressing the button and taking the picture.

Solution: In most cases that deal with camera lag clearing the cache and data of the app usually does the trick.

From the home screen, tap the Apps icon.

Tap Settings.

On the More tab, tap Application manager.

Tap the All tab.

Scroll to and tap the Camera application.

Tap Clear cache.

Tap Clear data.

The application cache and data is now cleared.

Note 2 Slow Charging Issue

Problem: Hey there, I came across your email id on drippler. I’m facing a strange issue with my Samsung galaxy note 2. A few days ago my phone started charging really slow. Once, I charged my phone all night and the battery charged to only 91% after charging it for almost 7 hours. It got worse the next day n it charged only to 65%. So i tried switching off my phone and charged it for 5 minutes and when i switched it back on it charged to about 3% and the app called battery widget said while the charger was still connected that it would charge in 2 hours n 40 minutes which is normal for a battery this size. . But the thing is , I have to do this each time. Charge it while it’s off for 5 minutes to charge it at normal speed thereafter while it’s on.. what could the problem be? Is it an app or is there a problem with the phones usb port? I’m not really sure. . Can u guys plz help resolve this problem? Its very inconvenient. My phones an international version GT-N7100 note 2 with android 4.4.2. Its about a year old. Hope to hear from you guys soon. Thanks.

Solution: Make sure that you are using the wall charger and cable that came with your phone when you are charging it. This charger delivers the correct current to your phone battery to charge it at normal rates. If you are already using the stock wall charger then try to replace your battery with a new one as this may already be faulty.

Solution: This may be caused by compatibility issues which in most cases can be resolved by a factory reset. Make sure to backup your data first before proceeding.
