The last number of years has seen a definite shift in the way a lot of people think about how they consume food. People are becoming more health conscious and in particular are starting to pay attention to where their food is coming from, how it is made and what is being put into it. This can be difficult when dining out! You have no control over what is going into your food. So we have decided to compile a list of our favourite healthy restaurants that’ll allow you enjoy a delicious meal out without feeling guilty the next day.

Cornucopia



Located on Wicklow Street, Cornucopia has long been the grand dame for those seeking a healthy meal in the City Centre. They are an award winning casual dining restaurant that cater primarily for vegetarians, putting particular emphasis on the fact that all their produce is locally grown and uses organic ingredients. An example of their delicious dishes is a potato, leek and courgette gratin baked in roast pepper and goats cheese cream with a pumpkin seed and basil crust. Check out their website here.

SÖDER+KO



SÖDER+KO is one of the hottest venues in Dublin right now. Their innovative menu is full of small plates that don’t compromise on taste when it comes to producing top quality healthy food. Their offerings are truly unique with dishes such as Tuna – Sashimi, Seaweed Salad and Wasabi Mayo, being particularly healthy. Check out their website here.

Farm Restaurants

Located at two locations in the heart of Dublin, Farm Restaurants are perhaps the most health conscious on this list. All their food is free from GM, artificial additives, fertilisers, growth promoters and herbicides. This doesn’t mean their food is a bland affair, far from it! It is fresh, organic, free-range and exceedingly delicious. They offer both meat and vegetarian options all of which are locally sourced, freshly prepared and cooked to order. The Greenhouse Restaurant

The Greenhouse is Dublin’s newest Michelin Star restaurant. It is extremely well deserved! They have long been treating their diners to an experience that is hard beaten. Their menu puts an emphasis on seasonality, with only the freshest of produce being used. They try to use as much earth grown, natural ingredients as possible and also have a surprise vegetarian menu available if you’re feeling adventurous. Their six course tasting menu features simple dishes such as Turbot with Broccoli, Smoked Yoghurt and Spices. Check out their website here.

Rustic Stone

Located on South Georges St., Rustic Stone is one of the city’s most popular venues. Dylan Mcgrath has designed all his food offerings to be full of flavour yet nutritious and uses his own special technique to keep them low in fat. In particular, their Raw Menu is packed full of delicious super foods with many being gluten free and suitable for vegetarians. The Monkfish Cured In Beetroot With Cucumber Dill and Avocado is a particular favourite of ours. Check out their website here.

Cafe Paradiso, Cork

Cafe Paradiso in Cork City is a vegetarian restaurant that was first established in 1993. It has grown to become an institution within foodie circles in Cork, renowned for its focus on vegetables rather than lentils. They are regarded as not only one of the best vegetarian restaurants in Cork but also one of the best restaurants period in the county.  Their menu takes inspiration from the best local producers of vegetables and cheeses meaning their dishes are always fresh and seasonal. Yamamori Sushi

Everyone knows that sushi is good for you as it is naturally low in fat, high in protein, vitamins and minerals. The problem often lies in finding a good place to eat sushi! Yamamori Sushi, next to the Ha’penny bridge, is the perfect solution. They offer a broad selection of top quality sushi dishes in surrounds that are relaxing and comfortable. Matt the Thresher

Located just off Baggot St., Matt the Thresher is a stylish seafood restaurant that is widely regarded as one of the best around. They take a fresh delivery of fish every morning ensuring you are getting the very best produce available with the most flavour possible. La Mère Zou

Located on St. Stephen’s Green, La mère Zou is a modern bistro that brings an excellent French dining experience to the table. Their menu features classic bistro dishes that have been tweaked to appeal to the more modern and discerning palate, using the finest produce and ingredients from Ireland and Europe. Kai Café and Restaurant, Galway

Located on Sea Road in Galway, they are the recent winner of the Best Chef and Best Restaurant in Connaught award at the RAI Awards. Their philosophy is simple! They source fresh, organic produce from local suppliers to create daily menus bursting with flavor, texture and colour.
