With their new 30 TV commercial, the Denver Art Museum (DAM) set out to reveal the duality of the Japanese samurai to promote the exhibition Samurai: Armor from the Ann and Gabriel Barbier-Mueller Collection. With a unique, animated approach, their goal was to "cinematically build on the elegance, beauty and artistry of the samurai culture and armor, while recognizing the samurai as the lethal warriors they were."

Denver Taiko drummers and Boulder’s Coupe Studios recorded original music to accompany animation from local studio Frost Motion. Conversations with the DAM’s Asian art department ensured the spot accurately represents the exhibition, as well as the culture and time period of the samurai. The samurai armor exhibition will be on view at the DAM through June 5.
