Hi Lovely!

The weather is warming up (depending on the day) so I thought I’d style my adorable smock dress from Mod Dolly! I adore this dress but the fabric is a bit heavy so I can’t see myself wearing it too much once it warms up for summer. So, why not wear the crap out of it now?!

When I first got this dress I tried it on and immediately felt like a flowery potato sack. It was cute but it definitely didn’t look cute on me like it did on the models styling it on the website. After checking their return policy I decided it wasn’t worth returning. So, I took it to a seamstress to see what they could do for me. I asked them to bring it in so it wouldn’t look so potato sack-like and to accentuate the waist. They suggested just gathering the fabric around the waist line to give it a more defined look. I trusted them to make the dress cute and they definitely delivered!

Thanks to the few alterations I feel cute and confident in this little dress. I’m not worried about whether I look fat or anything. I just feel good in it. Isn’t that what clothing should do? Make you feel awesome.

I’ve learned through many years of fluctuating weight that the size on a tag doesn’t matter. What matters is how you feel. I love my body, sure I’d like to get fitter so I don’t run out of breath so easily but I finally feel comfortable in my body. It took a long time and will continue to take work but I am happy with where I am. I love the person I’ve become. The size on a shirt or pair of pants doesn’t matter. What matters is the size of your heart. I mean, no one will remember when you were gone what size shoe you wore. They’ll remember how you made them feel, they’ll remember your laugh and kindness. Who gives a crap if you’re a size 0 or a size 16. I say be you because you are awesome.

P.s. my hair is getting WAY too long. I mean, look at that!
