In a world where money talks and costs rocket at each stage, just one wrong turn can make the difference between getting elusive sponsorship or not, and the pressure on these children couldn't be greater. The Dodds and the Dennys each spend over ú100,000 a year on their young racers, while the Chapman family from Cumbria reveal a different side of the karting world. Fenn Chapman is 10 and karting has helped him overcome his autism. But unlike most other competitors in the British karting championship, his family can't afford to join a professional team.

9.00pm Back in Time For Brixton BBC2 - Documentary following a family who give up their modern lives for one summer to experience what life was like for Caribbeans who immigrated to Britain in the postwar period. Beginning in 1948, the year the Empire Windrush arrived at Tilbury and discharged its passengers, the Irwin family travel through the 1950s and 60s, guided by presenter Giles Coren and social historian Emma Dabiri who introduce them to their new homes as well as the events of the time. Along the way the Irwins discover the food, work and entertainment of first-generation immigrants making their lives in Brixton.
9.00pm Our Guy in India Channel 4 - Guy Martin's love of industry and endeavour leads him to China, a country recognised for its innovation, technological development and gigantic manufacturing. His eclectic interests provide the guidebook as he reveals the unseen side of China's outstanding achievements. Guy's adventure starts in Chongqing, the fastest growing city in the world, where he works in a factory to build his own electric motorbike.

8.00pm Breaking the Silence Live Channel 4 - This ground-breaking observational documentary brings together a group of profoundly deaf people over the course of an hour of live television and shares the moment when they may hear for the very first time, since having a cochlear implant fitted. The implant, an electronic device that stimulates the inner ear, can replace hearing that has been lost and gives access to sounds that users were previously unaware of. The programme provides privileged access to this potentially huge life-altering moment, as it happens.

10.00pm Kids on the Edge: The Last Chance School Channel 4 - An unprecedented number of children in the UK are being diagnosed with and treated for mental health disorders. This documentary follows three of these children at the Tavistock and Portman's day unit, Gloucester House, a unique NHS-run primary and early secondary school for children with complex emotional, social and behavioural problems. The specialist team of teachers, mental health nurses, therapists and support workers work intensively with its 18 students, many of whom have been excluded from mainstream schools. The programme follows 11-year-old Josh in his last term at the school. He was adopted when he was six, but his traumatic early years have been worked through in his time at the school.

In this first episode, Kevin and co profile five amazing country homes on the long-list for the prize: including a large house camouflaged within a hill; a loving restoration in Wiltshire of a prototype modernist retreat; a Scottish home that blends an agricultural exterior with a sleek modern interior; and a slice of spectacular California modernism in Cornwall.
