The largest cruise line company Carnival Cruise Line has received approval from the Cuban government to sail to the island, the company said in a statement Tuesday.
The 2,052-passenger Carnival Paradise will become the largest cruise ship in history to sail from the US to Havana and will arrive for the first time in June. Its itinerary will connect Tampa with the Cuban capital.
These new trips will allow night and day visits to the city.
The overnight visits will be offered on 12 four-day and five-day cruises aboard Carnival Paradise, departing from the port of Tampa starting June 29. Guests can choose from a variety of shore excursions.
“Our flagship Carnival brand has taken tens of millions of passengers to the Caribbean during its nearly 45-year history, and we are thrilled that our biggest brand goes to Cuba, one of the most coveted destinations in the world,” said Arnold Donald, CEO of the company.
“We are optimistic and hopefully receiving approval from the Cuban Government for Carnival Corporation’s additional brands.” The Caribbean is the world’s most popular cruise region, and we are excited about expanding our itineraries in several of our brands to include the Island, He added.
In recent weeks, Norwegian Cruise Line (NCLH) has received authorization from the island’s government to extend 25 more cruises to Cuba by the end of the year and Royal Caribbean Cruises (RCL) extended its trips to Havana for 2017 to 13.
Carnival was the first cruise line approved to sail to the island that made history in May of 2016 when uniting the US and Cuba in more than 40 years.

La marca de cruceros más grande de la compañía Carnival Cruise Line ha recibido la aprobación del Gobierno cubano para navegar a la Isla, según dio a conocer este martes la empresa en un comunicado.
El Carnival Paradise de 2.052 pasajeros se convertirá en el crucero más grande de la historia que navegue desde EEUU a La Habana y llegará por primera vez en junio. Su itinerario unirá a Tampa con la capital cubana.
Estos nuevos viajes permitirán visitas nocturnas y diurnas a la ciudad.
Las visitas nocturnas se ofrecerán en 12 cruceros de cuatro y cinco días a bordo de Carnival Paradise, saliendo desde el puerto de Tampa a partir del 29 de junio. Los huéspedes podrán elegir entre una variedad de excursiones en tierra.

Carnival fue la primera línea de cruceros aprobada para navegar a la Isla que hizo historia en mayo de 2016 al unir EEUU y Cuba en más de 40 años.
