Como a todas las divas, a Madonna no le gusta cumplir años y así lo ha manifestado en muchas ocasiones. Pero esta vez la reina del pop tenía ganas de despedir los 57, uno de los más complicados de su vida profesional y personal. Si el verano pasado celebraba su aniversario preparando su gira mundial Rebel Heart y en 2014 lo hizo con una fiesta por todo lo alto en Cannes para después revolucionar Ibiza de discoteca en discoteca junto a su amigo el fotógrafo Mert Alas, este 16 de agosto la cantante ha escogido Cuba para mostrar que, a los 58, su mejor regalo de cumpleaños son sus hijos.
Junto a su hija mayor, Lourdes, de 19 años y fruto de su relación con el preparador físico cubano Carlos León, la reina del pop desembarcaba ayer en La Habana para celebrar su aniversario con una fiesta a base de ritmos cubanos. Tan solo unas horas antes, la artista desvelaba en su cuenta de Instagram la portada del número especial de revista británica Love, en la que aparece chupándose el pulgar, en una sesión firmada precisamente por Mert Alas y en la que colabora el diseñador Marc Jacobs.
“Cuba Libre”, escribió Madonna para anunciar, también con una foto suya en Instagram, su llegada al país. Junto a ella, un numeroso grupo de amigos y su habitual equipo de asistentes, estilistas y guardaespaldas. Aterrizó en el aeropuerto José Martí en un vuelo privado y después todo el grupo se trasladó en coches clásicos descapotables hasta el lujoso Hotel Saratoga, en el centro histórico de la capital cubana. Es la primera vez en varios meses que se ve a la cantante estadounidense junto a su hija Lourdes María, ya que esta vive sola mientras estudia en la universidad.
Su visión crítica de las redes sociales no quita que la reina del pop sea una activa usuaria de ellas, especialmente de Instagram, donde tiene 7,7 millones de seguidores. Desde que terminó su gira a principios de año, su perfil en esta red social ha sido uno de los pocos medios para saber de la cantante, que en lo profesional se está tomando un descanso, ha aprovechado para viajar a Kenia y tras unos días de vacaciones en Italia anunció que vuelve al trabajo. También es la plataforma a través de la que comunicó anoche su aterrizaje en Cuba. Varios medios de la isla ya cuentan que anoche la reina del pop bailó al ritmo de La Guantanamera y de varios temas de Compay Segundo en un restaurante de la Plaza Vieja, en el centro histórico de La Habana.
No se sabe si su visita incluirá alguna actividad institucional o cultural más allá de la fiesta de su 58 cumpleaños, como hicieron otras celebridades que han pisado Cuba desde que se retomó la relación diplomática con Estados Unidos, por ejemplo Leonardo DiCaprio, Beyoncé, Jay-Z y Katy Perry. Está previsto que Madonna se quede en la isla hasta mañana miércoles.
