Las famosas motos Harley Davidson rugirán en Cuba. La película “Habana riders” se filmará en la isla, con producción del argentino Fito Pochat.
Como sucede tantas veces, el cine refleja también en Cuba, en estos dias, los cambios en el deshielo entre los EEUU y ese país del Caribe. Esos cambios se seguirán haciendo. En ese contexto de reordenamientos se piensa “Habana riders”, una película en preproducción que fue presentada en el reciente 37 Festival del Nuevo Cine Latinoamericano en La Habana, y que se estrenará en 2017. La historia a contar es la de un joven campesino que encuentra una moto Harley Davidson que perteneció a Elvis Presley, hecho que lo motiva a organizar una carrera entre Santiago de Cuba y la capital de la isla que convoca a motoqueros de esa marca de todo el mundo.
En la coproducción participarán España, Venezuela, Cuba y Argentina. El principal reto será superar la condición de postal nostálgica para hundirse en una historia humana y creíble, que refleje una pluralidad de miradas, afirman los responsables. El guión será responsabilidad del escritor cubano Senel Paz (autor de “Fresa y chocolate”), al frente de un equipo internacional, a partir de una idea original del director Ian Padrón.
A la cabeza de la pata argentina está el productor Fito Pochat, quien le aclaró a LA GACETA que la historia de “Habana riders” surgió mucho antes de toda apertura en los vínculos con EEUU. “Padrón la pensó hace 10 o 12 años, y la veníamos hablando con el productor español Rafael Álvarez hace tiempo. A fines de 2014 decidimos encarar el proyecto y empezar a darle forma, para lo que compramos los derechos y contactamos a Paz, quien fue nuestra primera opción y ya está escribiendo el guión, mientras nosotros buscamos fondos”, explicó el dueño de Motoneta Cine.
La apuesta es realizar un estreno simultáneo en todos los países que participan de la película, que tendrá personajes de distintos lugares del mundo, lo que representarán diferentes miradas sobre el tiempo histórico por el que transita Cuba. “El proceso que está viviendo en este momento es particularmente atractivo porque abre un montón de interrogantes sobre cómo será su salida luego de tantos años de revolución”, admitió.
“Me atrae seguir el camino de producir ficciones. Por otro lado, el mundo de las motos es algo que siempre me ha apasionado: tuve la primera a los 14 años y la Harley Davidson es la reina. La idea de presentar un producto tan norteamericano en el contexto cubano nos pareció un tópico muy atractivo, a partir de la nueva Cuba que se viene, aunque la película no aborda la coyuntura política: es de aventuras y entretenimiento, pero el contexto la atraviesa todo el tiempo”, agregó.
El productor conoce la isla desde hace años, y sus anteriores trabajos ya participaron en festivales. “Esta iniciativa tiene aspiraciones de ser importante, y por lo tanto necesita recursos importantes -apuntó Pochat-. Será una producción grande, en términos de lo que es nuestra cinematografía”.
