MUSICA CUBANA EN EL FESTIVAL DE VERANO DE BARCELONA.
Migdalia Hechavarría y José Luis Cortés ‘El Tosco’, desde Cuba con mucho son. Los artistas se instalan seis días en el Jamboree.
Dos artistas totémicos. Dos embajadores de la mejor y más inquieta esencia sonora cubana. Dos referencias absolutas: la cantante Migdalia Hechavarría y el flautista y compositor Jose Luis Cortés El Tosco estarán en la misma sala que el año pasado propició el exitoso debut en España de esta pasional vocalista).

Sus talentos y trayectorias les avalan. El prodigio, el poderío y la sensibilidad vocal de Hechavarría empezó a forjarse cuando tenía solo 7 años y ganó un concurso de una popular emisora de radio. «Llegué a casa y mi abuelita me quería matar. Tú sabes que en aquella época se tenía un concepto erróneo de los artistas», ríe.
El añorado pianista Bebo Valdés fue el primer músico que le arropó. Estuvo durante años como primera figura del emblemático Tropicana. El Tosco, que tenía que ser pescador pero el destino quiso que fuera músico, ha formado parte de la escudería de grupos tan claves como Irakere y Van Van. Y fue el fundador de NG La Banda, de la que sigue siendo timonel y con la que regresará a Barcelona en septiembre.
«En La Habana se está celebrando el Festival Boleros de Oro. Y tengo una puyita en el corazón: no han invitado a nadie de mi escuela, gratuita. Hechevarría recuerda que cuando cantó en el Festival de San Remo y se mezcló entre el público (lo hace siempre), más de uno no pudo contener las lágrimas. «Me decían llorando ‘¿cómo puede dar tanto amor?’» Cierto: ¿cómo lo hace? «El secreto está en la entrega -responde-.
