We just got back from a fabulous vacation in the Outer Banks (you might have seen a photo or 40 on my Instagram feed - @craftyscientist and I plan to share more at some point), but I wanted to share something I mentioned awhile back...
Remember when I said I'd share one more painted planter project (when I shared the other color blocked painted planters)? It was kind of awhile ago.
But I thought I'd share it now because I finally got most of my pictures together!
I painted the whole thing with a flat white paint. 
Then I taped off the sections according to the imprinted lines that were already marked on the planter... and used quite a bit of painter's tape!
The three greens on the left are the ones I used for this planter (the Jade color was used on the other planters I posted here). Somehow I already owned the ombre green spectrum so that's what I went with!
I had bought some Krylon Glitter Blast paint in this sour apple color - my favorite color! - and thought this would be a perfect top to the planter... but this is what it looked like... no matter how many coats I did or how much I shook the can.
It was just a gross, ugly mess. I haven't tried to use that color for anything else and I ended up just covering the glitter with a lighter green. Maybe I'll try again with something else, but I just don't know what went wrong (the other paints worked, it wasn't that hot at the time, etc.).
And ta da! Time to plant! There are some imperfections still (it's a challenge to get painter's tape to adhere perfectly on a shape like this... or it was for me!), but I'm still a big fan!
The strawberry plants were flourishing, but then some squirrels, caterpillars, a neighbor's cat, deer, a raccoon, and an opossum decided to "investigate" and with the big rains... well, it's looking a little less lush now, but I'm hopeful it can survive!
