FOREST LIBRARY IS THE BEST DEAL AROUND

I would like to ask all of the voters of the Riverdale School District to please vote for the renewal levy for the Forest Jackson Public Library on Nov. 4.

This renewal levy is 0.7 mill for five years. This generates approximately $66,915 annually for our library. For a homeowner whose home is valued at $100,000, this means you will pay about $21 per year.

When you think about $21 per year, what can that get you? Not much when you go shopping or out to eat, but, at the Forest Jackson Public Library, $21 per year can get you free rentals of books and magazines, books on cassette and CDs, large-print books, DVDs. There are many new releases and current titles are available. Internet access with five computer stations, use of the Elison Die Cut Machine and a microfilm reader.

The Forest Jackson Public library also offers Story Time Station for young children, FUNday Mondays for older children, a fantastic summer reading program, Card Club, Adult Reading Club, Movie Matinees and Movie Nights, Healthy Cooking classes, and much more.

The Forest Jackson Public Library is a wonderful asset for the Riverdale community. It is open six days a week, and stays open until 8 p.m. four nights a week.

Many services and products are available to us at the library. If you haven’t been there, or even if it has been awhile, I encourage you to go and check it out. You can visit the website www.forestlibrary.org if you would like more information.

So please on Nov. 4 vote yes for the levy renewal of the Forest Jackson Public Library. For $21 a year, it is the best deal around!

CANDIDATE HAS EARNED HIS TRUST

No matter who or what you support, please vote Nov. 4.

Our children and grandchildren are depending on us to help choose the leaders of our community and state. This is their future you are supporting.

One candidate on the ballot is a man running for state representative, Robert McColley.

He is currently the head of the Henry County CIC, with roots in Putnam County going back to his great-great-grandfather. McColley has been going door-to-door and working incredibly hard to earn our trust.

His work ethic, honesty, and integrity have impressed me and my family.

He promises to work just as hard to be our voice in Columbus, representing our conservative values and using his experience to grow the local economy with common-sense solutions.

NOT HER AARP

What’s with the October/November issue of AARP? It is filled with dirty comments that seem more common for a sex magazine. They have lesbians on the cover, baby boomer comments using the “F” word, and Rosie praising her lifestyle.

I always thought AARP was for older persons’ support, but no more for this “older” person. I’ve canceled after years and years.
