I have an exciting announcement today!

Guess what? I am a new fabric designer for Riley Blake Designs!

I have been dying to share this news with you for months and now they finally said I could make the announcement since the fabric is on their website available for preorder for shops. I have toyed with the idea of creating a line of fabrics for a few years now since I released my book, but it just didn’t seem like the right time. I’m a firm believer in not rushing things and making sure that the business decisions I make are in line with what’s going on with our family first and foremost. But after we moved and got settled into our new home, I knew it was time and I got to work designing ‘Dainty Darling‘.

I’m really happy with my first collection for Riley Blake Designs called ‘Dainty Darling‘. I had a vision in my head and it’s very exciting to see it come out on paper (and soon fabric!). I knew that I wanted to achieve a look that was similar to the way I design children’s clothing…….vintage-inspired with a modern twist and classic girly style. I wanted to use the teal and pink that is so prominent on The Cottage Mama website and logo and combined with the spring green, aqua blue and butter yellow the whole collection comes together. I hope you love it as much as I do. The fabric collection will be available in February 2017. I know it’s a ways off, but all good things take time!

Dainty Darling Collection

In the above pictures you can see the full ‘Dainty Darling‘ collection. There are 7 prints that come in 3 different colorways. There is also a collection of basics including ginghams, dots, solids, etc. that coordinate with the line. I definitely had children’s clothing in mind when I designed this collection, but I can see adorable little girls room decor, quilting projects, stuffed animals, accessories and so much more! All of the fabric will be offered in high-quality designer quilting cotton. It’s going to be wonderful and I can’t wait to start working with this fabric!

One of things I knew I wanted when I decided to venture down the road of fabric design was coordinating trim. You all know how much I LOVE trim! It was very important to me to be able to work with a company that was willing to produce quality woven trim that would match the collection. I was thrilled when Riley Blake Designs said they were interested in doing this as well, so I think you are going to really enjoy the five coordinating woven ribbons that will tie in perfectly with your sewn projects! You can see the five pictured in the bottom right corner of the image below. There is also matching rick rack, bias binding and buttons as well.

Also, with this line I will be offering machine embroidery design files that you’ll be able to purchase to customize all your sewn projects. They include different motifs from the collection and will be shared and available when the fabric releases (February 2017). I’m not going to share those yet because we need to have a little element of surprise, don’t you think? Also, I am currently working on a bunch of new children’s clothing patterns that will be released with this collection. They will start pattern testing in the next couple months to perfect them in time for October International Quilt Market. The suspense is killing me, I wish I could have you all over to my studio and share everything right now!

And of course no fabric collection would be complete without precuts! There are a variety of precuts available with this line. There is also going to be a free quilt pattern (and projects on the blog) and then I have some additional quilt patterns in the works that will also coordinate with this line. I’m looking forward to incorporating some of these precuts into children’s clothing and accessories as well. Oh the possibilities!

If you are a quilt shop interested in this collection, you can pre-order directly through your Riley Blake Designs account. And if you purchase the full collection, please contact me regarding the traveling trunk show, merchandising and sewing class ideas, and more! You can email Lindsay@thecottagemama.com. All fabrics are available for pre-order and will release in February 2017. The timing will be perfect for the start of Spring/Summer and Easter sewing!

From this point forward I will be designing two collections a year for Riley Blake Designs. My next collection is already swirling around in my head. I will still be sewing with everyone’s fabrics, because how could I not with all the amazing designers out there? But I’m sure you’ll be seeing lots of projects and inspiration using The Cottage Mama Fabrics. Since the fabric line doesn’t release until next year, you won’t see too much about it until I have my booth at International Quilt Market at the end of October. I simply cannot wait to get this fabric in my hot little hand and start sewing!

Thanks for stopping by today and until next time…….

Happy Sewing!
