Position: Hadoop Administrator
Location: San Francisco CA
Duration: 6+ months
Responsibilities
Responsible for assisting with the design, implementation, and ongoing support of the Hadoop environment.
• Manage large scale Cloudera Hadoop cluster environments, handling all Hadoop environment builds, including design, capacity planning, cluster setup, performance tuning and ongoing monitoring.
• Part of this role is also "customer facing" with other FTE's, a good attitude and customer-service oriented thinking (not "us" vs "them") is required. Culture fit is huge.
Experience setting up Kerberos and administering a kerberized cluster.
Sentry Service configuration and setup policies. (authentication)
• Lead troubleshooting on Hadoop technologies including HDFS, MapReduce, YARN, Hive, Impala, Spark.
• Work with core production support personnel in IT and Engineering to automate deployment and operation of the infrastructure.
• Identify hardware and software technical problems, storage and/or related system malfunctions.
• Capacity planning and implementation of new/upgraded hardware and software releases as well as for storage infrastructure.
• Assist in monitoring the Linux community and report on important changes/enhancements to the team.
Requirements:
• Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Engineering or a related technical discipline.
• 7-10 years of related systems engineering experience.
• 3+ years of administrator experience on Big Data Hadoop Ecosystem and related technologies (Hive, Spark, Impala) • 5+ years of professional experience supporting production medium to large scale Linux environments.
• A deep understanding of Hadoop design principals, cluster connectivity, security and the factors that affect distributed system performance.
• BI Tools experience a plus.
• Expert experience with at least one if not most of the following languages; python, perl, ruby, or bash.
• Solid ability to create automation with Puppet, and shell scripts.
• Good collaboration & communication skills, the ability to participate in an interdisciplinary team.
• Knowledge of best practices related to security, performance, and disaster recovery.
Unique/Additional Requirements:
• Cloudera Hadoop Certified
• Experience with complex networking infrastructure including firewalls, VLANs, and load balancers.
• AWS and Google Compute experience a plus.
• Prior experience with performance tuning, capacity planning, and workload mapping a plus.
