decent game - seems like the Irish simply finally ran out of players

microcosm of tOSU's season - look absolutely dominate for stretches and just going thru the motions at other times.

Which is why they didn't play last night. If there was ever a disappointing 12-1 season, this was it.

Still can't figure out why they handicap themselves by refusing to play a qb. Hard enough beating a good d, but why only play with 10?

Should have flipped opponents so we had Northwestern / Florida and Tennessee / Michigan.

Couple pretty ugly games - Florida's more talented that NU, but man, they are way less than the sum of their parts

hard to say who had a worse game, MSU or Florida...I'd say Sparty but this is close. By the way, passing for first downs with your starting QB when up 41-7 with 2 minutes left is bad sportsmanship.

Oh Sparty - by faaaaaaar and away - that was the biggest big game beatdown since last year's loobing of Wisconsin by tOSU

well everyone is right it seems......

I said after we beat tennessee that is a damn good team. I'm not sure they arent one of the 4 best in the country right now.

JGibson <james.m.gibson@gmail.com>: Jan 01 11:37AM -0800

And NW's 2 losses were 38-0 against Michigan and 40-10 to Iowa, so the line is not that much of a surprise.

no not a surprise....but it(and those other 2 losses) just goes to how much northwestern really sucks.

They are not. I saw every game they played and the are not a top ten
team. Can't throw the ball, can't play disciplined football, and not a
very good offensive scheme.

his offense laid an egg in the one game that mattered in their exhibition schedule all year....and led a so-so team with a third string qb beat them. Beating up on ND isn't going to make it not a wasted season.

Ohio State lost to an inferior Michigan State team for one reason - lousy play calling. Other wise, the Buckeyes would have beat MSU and then opened a big can of whoop-ass on the Alabama shit kickers - just like they did last year. National College Championship needs to go to an 8 team playoff.

No - and y'all sitting out is precisely why it doesn't want to go to 8. The regular season still has meaning.

As an NU alum, I wish Clayton Thorson and Jack Mitchell started for the

to play football? Most of them. Without a football scholarship? Probably just a few, if any. Which is probably only a few less than the northwestern football players *on football scholarship*.

Scholarship football(and basketball) players at major colleges have very little in common with the student body as a whole at the same school...whether you are talking about Tennessee, Northwestern, Alabama, Ohio State, Stanford, Georgia, etc...

On a related note some of the northwestern football players on scholarship couldn't get into university of tennessee as regular students either(although obviously more could than could get into NW as regular students).

They did not go to UT for the academics.
