Wallace To Minnesota

Guy was always open.

By trading him, we're on the hook for ALL of his cap salary this year instead of being able to spread it out over 2 years.

We get a 5th and give up a 7th.

Who is making these deals?

See, here's the thing Ocean-- it doesn't mean a hill o' beans that Mike
Wallace was "always open". The dude has substandard hands and super
tiny balls, THAT is what matters. Pittsburghers hated him, not one I
know was sad to see him go. Understand not all the misses were on RT.

There is no question Tannehill has a WEAK deep ball, but if you don't
appreciate the rationale and value of dumping Wallace and his MONSTER
contract to the Vikes, I'd suggest finding a sport to follow that
doesn't have salary cap. We now have a bona fide deep threat with two
years of rookie deal left, the potential to have 2 top shelf TEs and a
hell of a blocking TE, and have yet more money to spend. WHAT IS NOT TO
LIKE?

Try MLB, or maybe NCAAF... Economics are irrelevant in those venues.

This is a GREAT move.

Final purge of Ireland taint.

There were plenty of people saying that Wallace could not be traded.

Wallace was not living up to his super-star deal and the bullshit
between him and Philbin or whomever at the end of the season was a
problem. He was not willing to restructure his deal. A common
prediction was that he would simply have to be released.

Maybe every other team in the AFCE might have been interested in a good
WR with a major grudge against an opponent.

Now Wallace is gone to the NFC.

The Dolphins manage to trade for a BETTER, younger WR still on his
rookie deal.

$5.5 million in cap space is freed up. An unhappy and very expensive
player is gone.

Ellerbe is gone and the Dolphins GOT something for him.

I have to say that the moves this new brain trust have made here today
are far superior to anything we have seen from the Dolphins modern era.
We can't know these choices will work - with the NFL it seems like the
chances are 50% on the batch.

I give this series of trades an A+ and YES the Ireland shadow is rapidly
receding... his Wallace, Ellerbe and Wheeler horror trilogy is now over.

This team could be a lot better in 2015.

No that won't happen until RT is gone in a couple more years with a new owner lol

Thanks for your advice on what sports I should follow, I be sure to do that.

Meanwhile, hopefully we will find someone the defense always has to account for, someone they know will blow the top of them the second they slip up. That's what Wallace was, whether our physically challenged QB could hit him on a deep ball or not.

And bad hands? Guess you missed that circus catch at the goal line in one of those forgettable final games.

But whatever. This is the franchise that passed on Dez Bryant, moved down, and got Jared Odrick, who is now gone.

Wallace had his moments on both sides. You may have forgotten the
numerous drops he added over his brief stay.

At the end, he spent the last half of his last game with the Dolphins
sitting on the bench.

BTW... RT isn't physically challenged. His performance in 2014 was
clearly improving as he gained comfort in the Lazor offense.

Whatever else is true about the Dolphins, the personnel moves they have
been making this off-season and last are one hell of a lot saner than
the ones Ireland made and Ireland is, of course, the guy who pretty much
singlehandedly ran off Dez Bryant.

It is very cool watching Lazor work his magic.

Just imagine if Philbin wasn't coming back.

Donkey Kong and Cam Wake and any three linebackers you can imagine with
a coach like, hell as much as I hate to say it, Rex Ryan?

RT's abilities with a coach like Chip Kelly?

Hell, the Dolphins would even be more formidable with Mike McCarthy,
ain't that a scary thought?

Let's hope this is the final year of Ross's "experiment"....

No they will probably JUST make the playoffs as a Wild Card and Philbin will get about a 30 year extension.

Really? REALLY??? That's it?
Miami may have cheated 45 years ago? The Packers in 1921?? Really???
How far back can you go to prove cheating is equal throughout the
league? And players caught cheating isn't the same as a TEAM
(organization) caught cheating. By that logic, the Pats are murderers
although I've heard no one here be THAT stupid. And if that's your
logic, you left out the Dolphins players, staff, and FO conspiring to
harass Martin. And you left out the "everybody does it" which, taken to
it's logical conclusion, means no team should be found guilty of
anything, which obviously means all rules should be dropped.
Take a deep breath. The topic at hand is inflate-gate. No one knows
how the investigation will turn out but even you have to admit there is
suggestive evidence - not provable yet, but suggestive. That's why the
investigation was begun.
And you REALLY need to develop a tougher skin. Go back as far as you
want. EVERY team that had a short-lived dynasty or run of good teams
has suffered the wrath of the remaining teams. Packers under Lombardi?
Yup. Steel curtain? 49'ers? Cowboys? I don't remember any whiners
from THOSE team's fans. Nope, only Patsie fans who feel everyone is
REQUIRED to love your team and everything NE. Adjust to reality. EVERY
team, including NE, has cheated over the course of the NFL. NE is the
most recent. Argue all you want. Deny all you want. The investigation
is real. We'll wait for the conclusion. Again, your team has been
fortunate to have their time at the top. Being hated is part of the
territory. Grow up.

Jets to trade for Brandon Marshall

And gamble is what it is... they all are. Yes, Marshall is a great
player and he has shown that. I don't know how this goes down with
him... maybe he's happy. Maybe not. I don't even have the slightest
hint of what the new staff is like up in NY. Marshall is just not an
easy player to keep happy. When he's unhappy he's a pain in the ass.

Sort of early to declare an off-season winner. Free agency starts next
week. If the Dolphins do land Suh, they'll have massive bragging
rights... assuming you care for that sort of thing. We all know it will
be a minor miracle if this all works out for the Dolphins.

I don't know if the Bills got better. The player they "got" may not
want to be there. Same may be true for the Jets. We'll see how those
things play out. Trading for a player who did not want to be moving can
be a dicey situation.

I haven't heard either of the players involved in these trades talk
about how happy they are to be moving to their new team.

Chargers to make a run at Suh

J Lunis <lunis.j@gmail.com>: Mar 07 03:43PM -0500

http://www.nfl.com/news/story/0ap3000000477177/article/chargers-preparing-to-make-a-run-at-ndamukong-suh

<snipped>
"NFL Media Insider Ian Rapoport reported Saturday that the San Diego
Chargers are preparing to make a run at Suh, per sources informed of the
team's plans.

The Chargers enter the $100 million sprint that is expected to include
the Oakland Raiders, Miami Dolphins, Chicago Bears, Jacksonville Jaguars
and Detroit Lions.

San Diego would be an interesting choice for Suh. Defensive coordinator
John Pagano currently runs a 3-4 base set. He could view Suh as a
movable piece, à la J.J. Watt. Suh is strong enough to hold his own on
the inside, yet agile enough to shift outside when needed. Regardless of
where he plays along the line the 28-year-old would immediately upgrade
a weak run defense.

The Chargers currently have about $26 million in cap space for 2015 --
less than the likes of the Raiders and Jags. With Philip Rivers entering
his 12th season at 33 years old the Chargers know there is urgency to
reach the Super Bowl now. "

This is peak mind game season.

Seems he's very unpopular wherever he goes. You think your team is
going to be different?
