Nole vs. Murray

Patrick Kehoe <pkehoe@telus.net>: Oct 31 08:01AM -0700

Both guys will be looking to make statements in this one... Murray can punch back at Nole who has clearly elevated way past him career wise and perhaps set himself on course for 2015... Nole will want to send a message to the Murray camp that over all, he's still the top man, the more complete player...

Love these kinds of showdowns... can really que things up and/or send a shockwave into a rivalry...

Dear Diary, I am so excited that Roger has a chance to finish at #1!!!!!! He's still my fave. I have been chatting online with someone who says otherwise. This person is wrong!!! I am also looking forward to having lunch Wednesday with that hunky guy Mark who also says he likes Roger. Could this turn out to be something good???

10/27/14

Dear Diary, that person I mentioned who keeps attacking Roger is using all sorts of what I consider bullshit reasoning. He is saying that mid-match scores with Agassi and Roger's H2H with Rafa are more important than slams! Can you believe this shit? BTW, this guy online wants me to wake up early on Wednesday and go for a jog on the beach where we will run and talk about who is the GOAT of tennis. Should I go???

10/28/14

Dear Diary, it is the day before I am supposed to jog on the beach with this guy. He claims to work in a penthouse office overlooking the Newcastle port. Do I believe him? How can I believe someone who routinely cites matches between Roger and Rafa that were tune-ups? Like, tune-ups matter only when they can be used against Roger. I am going to have to think about this early morning jog.

10/29/14

Dear Diary, well, it is very early in the morning and I am going to head over to the beach now. Hopefully I can talk some sense with this nutter! Then perhaps Mark and I will have a good laugh over the arguments advanced by this "tennis expert." Diary, wish me luck!

Back in 2005, Wendy and I were in Thailand for vacation. We were staying on Koh Samui, and got in the habit of morning walks. Unlike Whisper, who is healthy and uses his mornings for runs and exercises, we would walk about 6 km to a pub on the beach that was open early and have a drink. Then we would walk back to our cabin.

One morning, we saw some boys in a canoe just offshore yelling excitedly, and some adults on the beach were yelling back at them. It turns out that the boys were fishing and had pulled up a body.

A few nights earlier, there was a midnight beach party (Koh Phangan Full Moon Party) at a small island a little way from Koh Samui, and at the end of the party some of the guests had gotten aboard a boat to come back. The boat ended up being overloaded and sank, and about 15 people drowned. The body the boys found was one of those unlucky party-goers.
(I looked it up on the web. Turns out that the same boat that capsized and sank that day was involved in a head-on collision with another boat in 2010. It is the "Sawasdi Chalermchoke Nawa5")

We didn't know what the excitement was about and so I walked over to investigate. I was there when they pulled the body onto the beach, and it was not a pretty site. Thankfully, Wendy did not look and after I saw what it was, I made sure that she did not get any closer.

Since the body was now out of the water, it had to stay to be examined and collected by the police. This made the beachfront hotel very unhappy, and they were not pleased that a body was on the shore by their hotel.

So, I certainly believe Whisper and understand that these things happen.
For his sake, I agree with him; it would not have been a nice experience to have found the body.

Hope it didn't ruin your vacation, but would be hard to forget.

Being the 1st to find a body would be totally different to somebody else
finding it. They would have done the 'dirty' work ie determining if the
person is deceased etc. If I saw the body 1st I think I'd have to get
close & see if they were alive/could be helped. That would be a
terrible experience realizing they were gone. Glad I avoided it.

I've been back to the beach twice since then & am now more observant
about my surroundings.

Trust me, brother, it wouldn't take much detective work. I think you have
been overly freaked out about this for some reason. It may indicate that you
are afraid of your own mortality a bit? Hopefully it has given you some
perspective/things to think about.

I agree, Fed has had good luck with draws this year - and Djoker generally pretty bad luck.

Though on paper Fed looked shoe-in at USO before semis but then Cilic cleared his clock completely.

I tended to think Federer was due a few breaks in the draw. Rafa Nadal's
draws had become legendarily easy (whole threads devoted to them elsewhere),
and Djoko has had his own good fortune. You hope these things work out even
in time.

Obama will do nothing until the elections are over.

Obama is 100% political, if you die in the mean time he doesn't care.

What matters to Obama is maintaining control of the political power.

Yeah! And while we're at it we should burn all of Tchaikovsky's music and
destroy all of Michaelangelo's works. And stop using computers because much
of the fundamental work that makes them possible was done by Alan Turing.

Rios is the closest example (same size, same shotmaking ability) Arguably Rios was more talented/all-a-round but Nishi has slightly more power and definitely better bh.

And both are prone to injuries...

I don't believe that's true though...

Sampras service points won: 69%
Sampras break points saved: 68%

Sampras return points won: 38%
Sampras break points converted: 41%

= +2% on big points.
