2014-01-01

In our first full year as Smarter Shift, we shared information and ideas on dozens of hot topics in content marketing and social media strategy.

We introduced our weekly Twitter chat, #ContentChat, spoke at a number of conferences, and tried to make our blog, The Content Roundtable, a gathering place for a growing community of content marketers.

It’s interesting to look back and see which posts received the most attention.

The number one post, Breathe New Live Into Old Content with Newsjacking, was a short piece by Smarter Shift President Mitchell Beer. It explains how bloggers can take advantage of dated yet compelling content, giving it new life by linking it to breaking news. We were thrilled to receive a comment on the post by Newsjacking author David Meerman Scott.

Our second-most popular post, The Death of Verbatim Conference Video, debuted illustrated audio, a new format for summarizing content from popular conference sessions. Compared to standard podium video, the approach makes far better use of the visual channel, relying on still photos and selected session slides to create more compelling, digestible content for online audiences. Three of our most popular posts were #ContentChat summaries. Participants shared tips on using LinkedIn and events in content marketing, and took a broader look at at what the future holds for marketing. #ContentChat takes place Mondays at 3 pm ET.
