English: The three biggest web search engines (Photo credit: Wikipedia)

It is no big secret that when we want to find out information pertaining to a certain topic (or topics), we use the aid of search engines.

Although I have experimented with every search engine you can think of, the first search engine that comes to mind is, Google (After all, I grew up with Google).

Countless People Have Made Google Their Homepage
I have used computers at my friends, relatives, internet cafés and at work and I have noticed that many of them have Google set as their homepage.

Have you ever turned on someone's computer and noticed that they had Google as their homepage? I am sure you have!

Google Is The First Search Engine That Comes To Mind For Most People
Obviously, if you are searching for something online, you would no doubt, use the first search engine that comes to mind (And, that happens to be, Google for most people).

Also, Google is engrained in our psyche; if someone wants you to be fully knowledgeable about something, they usually say to you, "Why don't you Google it?"

Microsoft Could Have Marketed Bing Better
Advertisers know that when a celebrity endorses something, the masses tend to follow.

Maybe, they should have hired Justin Timberlake as the poster boy for Bing.

Also, Microsoft could have sponsored some big sporting events showcasing their search engine, Bing.

Bing Inadvertently Acquired Some Negative Publicity
Those of us who are into the habit of downloading various software, have forgotten to remove the tick next to the agreement of having Bing as our default search engine, only to realize after, that Bing hijacked our computer's settings and made itself as our new homepage.

Although Bing is a great search engine, no one should have the cause to be negatively surprised into having it as their homepage.

Now Is The Best Time For Microsoft To Start Promoting Bing Heavily
A lot of people have become disillusioned with Google, claiming that search engine in particular violated their privacy and that it wilfully evaded taxes in the past.

As they say, "Strike the iron while it is hot." And, so far, Microsoft is yet to do that.

I believe that with a whole lot of effort combined with serious financial backing, Bing can surpass Google.

No One Is On Top Forever
As time goes along, people's perspectives and tastes change.

In the past, the Top Gun was Yahoo; today, Google runs the show.

And, who knows? Tomorrow, it might be some other search engine — some other search engine like Bing.

The Conclusion
It is possible for Bing to surpass Google and the only way that they can do that is to turn Bing into a household name.

Would you believe that there are still lots of people on the planet who don't know about Bing? It might sound surprising to many, but it is the truth.

Maybe, if Microsoft changed their management team, or changed their method of how they did things over at Microsoft, Bing might have a chance of becoming the most popular search engine on the planet.
