The battle between Wayne Taylor Racing and Action Express began hotting up as the 2014 Rolex 24 at Daytona began to enter its final stages.
It appeared that Action Express may have been shooting themselves in the foot at one point as the team desperately tried to keep its second car on the lead lap, allowing Ricky Taylor to bring the #10 closer to the leaders.
Once the #9 car pitted, Taylor inherited the lead, holding until the end of the hour, even after he had completed his next pitstop.
For much of the race, the two Porsche North America 911s had dominated the GTLM class, the #912 officially retired just after the halfway point of the hour. The result promoted the #4 up to second and left the GTLM class as a battle between the #911 and the #4.
The PC class continued with the same three cars still occupying the podium positions, as they had for the past few hours. The #54 CORE autosport machine held the lead, ahead of the #7 Starworks and #25 8Star machines.
The #555 Level 5 Motorsports Ferrari 458 continued to lead the GTD category.
