Several new faces are set to join the Michelin Clio Cup Series grid for the final rounds of the inaugural season this weekend at Brands Hatch.

Reigning Renault UK Clio Cup champion entrant Team Pyro will make their first appearance in the series this season with karting graduate Ollie Pidgley, the 16 year old making his saloon car debut ahead of a planned full campaign next year.

Two drivers with Clio Cup connections will make their debuts, with Finesse Motorsport mechanic Peter Bennett and 20Ten Racing team manager Simon Hunt racing with their respective outfits. Joining those three in the ‘racecar’ class will be David Thomas under the Team Creamslice banner.

In the ‘roadcar’ class meanwhile, Autosport journalist Glenn Freeman will pilot Monster Sport Europe’s car, penning an article about his experience for an upcoming article in the magazine.

Alongside the newcomers, the field will see the regular faces looking to end their seasons on a high. Race-winners Luke Herbert and Peter Felix will be targeting more success following their Renault UK Clio Cup outings at Rockingham this past weekend, while Andy Jordan will be leading the pack looking for their first wins of the campaign.

David Pierce, James Weston and Jason Tarling will be aiming to impress on home soil, while Tommy Ostgaard will be looking to complete a clean sweep of the roadcar class wins ehad of SWB Motorsport team-mate Sam Randon and Jake Honour.

“We’re delighted to see more and more new faces arriving in the Michelin Clio Cup Series with Protyre,” said category promoter Simon North. “Brands Hatch always provides great saloon car racing so we’re all looking forward to an entertaining conclusion to what has been an excellent first year for the Series, one which has exceeded our expectations.”
