The prime function of this role is to be accountable for and manage all factory logistics in the Ibadan & Zaria factories. Particular he would be the custodian (from arrival till utilisation) of all WMS and Leaf to be used in production and R&RS for the repairs of production machinery

The role holder will manage all warehousing activity to deliver optimum service levels and to support the factory by ensuring proper storage and delivery of materials for uninterrupted production. The Factory Logistics Manager is to ensure that all aspects of the Logistics processes and Systems, especially SAP, in BATWAA are compliant with internal and external control and statutory requirements.

The job holder will need to ensure that best practices, industry and BAT standards and local regulations are always complied with by all parties concerned.

PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES:

Business Leadership

· Manage and control all warehousing in BATWAA Operations, ensuring we have the correct warehousing infrastructure in the right place at the right time

· Ensure availability and accuracy of all stock (Wrapping Materials, Leaf, Repairs & Replacement Spares and Finished goods) in BATWAA

· Participate in regular logistics reviews and tendering processes for the Area to improve the logistics network and cost base.  Drive projects and continuous improvement initiatives to achieve and report logistics cost savings.

· Develop, manage and maintain the inventory control process to protect BATWAA stock.

· Drive the implementation of new IT systems, and identify opportunities to exploit existing systems.

· Drive the implementation of the regional warehouse strategy within BATWAA.

· Work with the wider BATWAA team to integrate the logistics offerings / capabilities further into the secondary supply chain.

· To be the custodian for the usage of Logistics systems ensuring their integrity especially with increased reliance on 3rd parties. This relates especially but not exclusively to SAP, global freight compliance, SAP WMS, records management, Environmentak Health & Safety etc.

· To ensure warehouse costs are managed within agreed budget and unit costs are reduced through continuous improvement and innovation.

· To manage the integrity of the Logistics processes, systems and products being handled to ensure Customer satisfaction.

· Ensure seamless supply of materials & spares to Manufacturing and Engineering and other departments at a cost effective price to minimise machine downtime/production loss.

· To ensure that the appropriate level of insurance is in place for all movement and storage of goods and that all claims are processed effectively.

· To manage and maintain all processes and procedures relating to the efficient and secure storage, movement and delivery of BAT”s products to the end Customers.  Likewise for product returns and recall.

· Support the development of and subsequent reporting against a standard set of key performance metrics covering service, safety, productivity, cost and 3rd party performance and sustainability.

· Third party management and spend.

· Develop and execute improvement plans in line with BAT’s logistics strategy.

· Ensure BAT EH&S and other working standards are observed at all times.

· Manage the relationship/collaboration with 3rd Party Logistics service providers to deliver expected business results through teamwork, partnerships and collaboration.

· To maintain and issue the Logistics KPI dashboard and performance reviews with continuous improvement plans.

· Ensure all records are maintained and provided as per BAT best practice and local regulations.

· Support production activities in the factory by ensuring continuous improvement in service delivery of materials & spares to meet user department/customer satisfaction.

· Manage R &RS operating cost to ensure optimum utilisation of available resources to positively impact on overall conversion costs

· Develop an environment which seeks continuous improvement and shares best practice ideas from within BATWAA, the rest of BAT and externally.

· Challenge “sacred cows” through constructive proposals utilizing new ways of working or approaches.

· Periodic review of imported spares for local manufacture, to reduce importation.

· Development of alternate cheaper sourcing of spares.

People Leadership

· Drive a proactive culture of root cause analysis, continuous improvement, openness and excellent customer service.

· Adopt a change management approach to help transform logistics performance across the network.

· Maintain a professional and well motivated team, ensuring effective use of resources

· Take a leadership role in negotiations with third party providers encouraging them to share and support in the BAT logistics strategy and execution.

· To drive a culture that ensures absolute control of the Logistics processes with the necessary effective preventive and corrective measures.

· To lead the engagement with all internal and external bodies in all aspects of Logistics compliance.

· To ensure a culture of trust and partnership/collaboration is always maintained with the 3PLs.

· To lead projects and cross-functional teams as required.

· To provide training, development and coaching of subordinates.

· Build strong peer relationships and networks across the supply chain within and outside the BATWAA and the AME region.

· To own the relationship with key internal stakeholders: Manufacturing, Engineering Procurement, Finance, Audit, Insurance, Security, Customer Facing team and Regional logistics team.

· To own the relationship with the following key external stakeholders: Customs and Excise, 3rd Party Logistics, External Audit, governmental agencies for BATWAA Logistics.

· Build and maintain an excellent relationship with 3rd Party Logistics and subcontractors who are the frontline contact with end customers.

· Maintain excellent relationship with in-house and external Logistics experts/consultants to support and implement best practices e.g Network design review.

Essential requirements 

· A university graduate.

· High level of supply chain knowledge with at least 2 years experience managing others

· Logistics and especially warehousing functional expertise is a key success factor for this role. Detailed knowledge is required across a range of logistics activities including; logistics best practice, warehouse, 3rd party and supplier management, tobacco specialized and security knowledge is preferable

· Sound knowledge of warehouse and Inventory management

· Knowledge of Logistics IT systems (SAP knowledge, Warehouse Management etc)
