If you’re an Indian or have stayed in India you know how hot summers can get. Save for the lucky extremities of the country, everywhere else is just cooking. It’s hot, hot, hot and there is no respite. We’re quite sure productivity and office hours increase for workplaces that offer a strong air conditioning. But, we digress.
Turns out, it’s not the extremities that are cooler. There are a number of places within India that make for an excellent honeymoon destination for couples looking to have a good time whether it’s by the pool with their shades on, or going scuba diving or cruising over breathtaking backwaters or just going about their thing and pausing every now and then to notice the breathtaking sights. Whatever it is that you have envisaged, you are covered. These are your options:
1. Shillong, Meghalaya
It may seem a bit silly of us to say there were options within the mainline and then recommend the North-East as our first option, but we’re just to help you make the right decision and nothing else, and our first pick isn’t one to merely discount at a glance. Within a reasonable budget, the discerning couple can take in a number of breathtaking sights that have largely been untouched by civilisation. The crisp air, the quaint hill station, the easy trip to nearby Cherrapunji are all good reasons to give this option a good, solid thought.

5. The Lakshadweep Islands
Sticking to our southern theme for the moment, the Lakshadweep islands may not be the closest options, but that really shouldn’t matter to many people, and if you’re one of those, then here’s what you can have – soft sand, summer surf, and sapphire lagoons. And the sun, of course. But no need to worry, there are plenty of coconut palms to take refuge under with a glass of Sangria by your side.

6. Darjeeling, West Bengal
Darjeeling is worth visiting for just for the jaw-dropping view of Kanchenjunga that is on offer, but there’s a lot more to do there for sure. Fans will say that we left the best for last, and they might indeed be correct. Nestled in the Himalayas, Shimla is a land where the bright shopping market extends past one crevasse, which is accessible only through cable car. Initially, the British used Shimla as a refuge from the sweltering heat of Delhi and the architecture still prevails, adding a most picturesque setting. Cedar and Oak forests abound, there is no shortage of places to eat or things to do in Shimla, but you can be just as well off nestled together with a bottle of wine and taking in the sights.
