KUCHING: Kolej Sunway Kuching will hold an Open Day over two weekends this month – on Dec 10-11 and Dec 17-18 in conjunction with its upcoming January 2017 intake.

During the Open Day, SPM, UEC and STPM school leavers will have an opportunity to meet counsellors, lecturers and management of Kolej Sunway Kuching to discuss their pathways and career opportunities.

The college will also use the event to showcase its upcoming Interpersonal Enhancement Workshop (IEW) which is specially designed for students who have just completed their SPM, UEC and STPM exams.

According to Kolej Sunway Kuching CEO Joseph Lim, the six-week workshop is designed to provide skills associated with effective interpersonal, language and communication behaviour.

The key focus areas of the IEW are written communication skills, e-mail communication, problem solving and critical thinking, phone conversations, active questioning and listening skills, rapport building, verbal communication techniques, basic interviewing skills and resume writing and assertiveness skills.

“On completion of this IEW workshop, students will be able to adapt styles to accommodate different situations, recognise and apply positive interpersonal and communication skill and behaviour, know how to communicate successfully, enhance personal and work related relationships, overcome impediments to effective communication, resolve interpersonal conflict and identify and develop communication strategies to enhance personal effectiveness,” said Lim.

He added that students with a minimum of 6As in their official SPM 2016 forecast result who enrolled for the IEW would be eligible to apply for Kolej Sunway Kuching Merit Award.

“If successful, the award recipients stand a chance to receive a higher scholarship amount than normally entitled under the Jeffrey Cheah Entrance Scholarship for the CAT/ Diploma Programme offered in April 2017,” he said.
