KUCHING: A leader in industry-linked research, Heriot-Watt has a long-standing track record of providing quality education.

Over the years, the university has garnered a number of accolades, including a 38th placing out of 127 institutions in the UK and fifth in Scotland according to the Times/Sunday Times Good University Guide 2016.

Additionally, the university was also ranked 46th in the world by Times Higher Education World University Rankings 2016.

Heriot-Watt currently operates out of five campuses; three in the UK and two international campuses, one in Dubai and one in Malaysia. Located in Precinct 5, Putrajaya, Heriot-Watt University Malaysia offers students access to top-notch British education at the foundation, undergraduate and postgraduate levels.

Paul Birly, former student of SMK Pengiran Omar II, Sipitang, Sabah is currently pursuing the university’s Foundation in Science programme.

“I decided to pursue a foundation programme because it puts me on a faster track than other pre-university programmes. Foundation programme allows me to develop the necessary skills by concentrating on specific subjects, preparing for a smooth transition into my degree studies.”

“I chose Heriot-Watt to begin my university education because Heriot-Watt is well recognised for their quality programmes and teaching. Moreover, Heriot-Watt offers optional transition to Dubai and UK campuses easily,” said Paul.

With plans to further his studies in Mechanical Engineering, Paul is sure that he has chosen the right launching pad for a successful career.

The university’s multiple campuses provides students with ample campus transfer options, giving them the chance to have an international study experience. While this option was previously only available for the university’s undergraduate students, Heriot-Watt now allows students who have completed their foundation studies at the university to transfer directly to the UK, thus kick-starting their international study experience.

What’s more, since the same syllabus is used in all of Heriot-Watt’s campus, the same teaching standard is maintained, and thus students need not worry about falling behind upon transferring campuses. This aligns with the university’s vision to be a truly global university.
