KUCHING: The Sarawak Club contributed RM8,000 each to Hope Place Kuching and Mental Health Association of Sarawak to mark its Family Day yesterday.

Its president George Lo presented the cheques to representatives of the organisations during a simple ceremony at the Club at Jalan Taman Budaya here.

The Sarawak Club’s Family Day is an annual event since the early days of the Club established in 1876.

A food bazaar comprising stalls selling snacks, gelato ice-cream and pastries was part of the event that took place from 8am to 3pm.

Other activities lined up for the day included badminton competition, squash games, tag-team telematch games, swimming pool games, balut and arm wrestling contests, essay writing and on-the-spot drawing and colouring competition.

Game booths for grip ball, darts and football were also set up along the walkway to the swimming pool. On top of that, extended happy hours were offered at Badger Bar and Hornbill Bar from 8am to 9.30pm.

The Sarawak Club is a private members club and one of the oldest clubs of its kind in Malaysia. It is a social and recreational club for the whole family with sporting, dining and recreational facilities.
