MIRI: Shell Malaysia Exploration & Production recently had a Hari Raya Open House for over 2,000 staff, family members, and invited guests, at Piasau 100, Miri.
The event was hosted by Chairman of Shell Malaysia, Iain Lo, and the management team.
Among the local dignitaries present were the Assistant Minister for Communication Datuk Lee Kim Shin, Piasau assemblyman Alan Ling, Miri Resident Antonio Kahti Galis and Miri District Officer Boniface Intang Apat.
Siti Sulaiman, Sabah Shell Asset general manager, in her speech, said the annual open house was to share the Hari Raya experience and showcase the cultural diversity among the various Malay communities in different parts of Malaysia
Signature foods from all four regions of Malaysia – North, South, East Coast, and Sabah and Sarawak were served. Among the authentic cuisine were ‘nasi kerabu’, ketupat, satay, and laksa Sarawak.
Activities included traditional game of congkak and Malay folk dance session of Joget Lambak, Zapin, as well as Pocho Pocho, There were also the ‘bergendang session’ ketupat weaving and batik painting for children.
