KUCHING: AirAsia Indonesia yesterday announced the appointment of Sunu Widyatmoko as president director effective July 1, 2014.

Sunu replaces Dharmadi who will assume a new role as member of AirAsia Indonesia’s Board of Commissioners.

Pin Harris, president commissioner of AirAsia Indonesia said, “We are very pleased to appoint Sunu Widyatmoko as AirAsia Indonesia’s President Director beginning July 1, 2014.

“Sunu, who is currently AirAsia Indonesia’s chief financial officer, will serve as interim president director effective immediately until his official appointment.

“With over 16 years of experience in corporate finance advisory, Sunu brings with him a wealth of knowledge. His key expertise in corporate finance coupled with his passion towards AirAsia and its people, make him the right person to drive the Company forward,”added Harris.

Sunu joined AirAsia Indonesia in 2013 as chief financial officer. Prior to that, Sunu has held various prominent positions in the financial industry. He served as Director of Investment Banking at PT Bahana Securities where his primary roles were to take companies public on the Indonesian Stock Exchange, assisting companies with mergers and acquisitions as well as corporate restructuring.

Previously, Sunu was with PT Indocement Tunggal Prakarsa Tbk and Ernst & Young Advisory Services.

Sunu holds a Master’s degree in Business Administration from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, United States and a Bachelor degree from Brawijaya University, Malang, Indonesia.

In accepting his new role, Sunu commented, “AirAsia has revolutionised air travel in Asean by bringing the low-cost carrier model into the region and enabling everyone to fly. In his new role as member of AirAsia Indonesia’s Board of Commissioners, Dharmadi will oversee the Board of Directors and ensure that the company complies with good corporate governance principles.

Dharmadi will also continue to work closely with the industry’s stakeholders, including INACA, to ensure sustainability and a balanced risk & return principle in the national aviation industry.
