Q: Dear 100 Hour Board,

This is a two-fer but they are related.

I love temples where you get to walk around. It helps keep me alert. Los Angeles Temple and Salt Lake City have several rooms is there any other temples that do? Most of the temples I have gone to only have one room and then the celestial room and it's hard for me to stay alert in them. Will there be more temples where you get to walk around a lot or is the small temples theme the norm from now on?

Similarly related I think all white-sealings are beautiful. I know the Los Angeles temple and the SLC temple have sealing rooms in the celestial room so your guest and you do a session beforehand. Are there more temples like that too?

Dear Lauren,

I'm not endowed, so this is only what I've heard from word-of-mouth. The new Provo City Center temple has multiple ordinance rooms that you move to throughout the session. Manti is another Utah temple that does this. This site (courtesy of Tally M.) shows how many sealing and ordinance rooms are in each temple. Again, as Tally points out, not every temple with multiple ordinance rooms has you move around.

Also, an unrelated but fun fact that I learned recently: every temple has a Holy of Holies or a room that can double as one. They are usually small rooms off the side of the Celestial room, or just a sealing room with a small door inside where things are kept for the washing of feet. I wish I could remember why I came about this information and where I saw it, but I remember it being somewhat recent and something that I had never learned before.

Dear FTW,

My favorite moving temple (you know what I mean) is the Laie Hawaii one. There are 3 ordinance rooms and I agree, it keeps you awake. For the most part. There is also a sealing room right off of the Celestial room there, but it's not too big. So I don't think they usually use it for live ordinances.

My guess is that they're steering away from 3 rooms. It's harder and longer to move everyone around, so it's more efficient to just do a two-room.

Cheers,

The Lone Musketeer

Dear you,

The Cardston temple has all the small rooms the Salt Lake City temple does.

A lot of medium-sized temples have two rooms before the Celestial room. I know Calgary and Halifax fit this description.

So if you ever want to go to Canada, I guess you'll know which temples to visit?

Dear LA-SLCFTW,

Idaho Falls was like this the last time I was there. That's all I've got, though.

Dear Temple Lover,

As a side note, the sealing rooms off the Celestial Room in the Salt Lake temple aren't actually used for live ordinances, at least as far as I know. They're really tiny, and every time there are sealings in the Salt Lake temple there are also endowment sessions going on, so it would be impossible to use those sealing rooms with any degree of privacy. Instead they use several other sealing rooms elsewhere in the temple. I haven't ever been to the Los Angeles temple, so I can't speak with certainty here, but my guess is that it's a similar set-up to the Salt Lake temple as far as sealing rooms go.
