Over this past weekend, Environmental activists met in New York City for a couple of days of organized mayhem. The above picture is a small sample of what gifts they bestowed upon the ecology of Manhattan. The clean up will doubtless cost the productive citizens of New York a veritable fortune. So much for leading by example, a relatively soft ball question asked of RFK Jr. and Leonardo DiCaprio which was summarily swung at and missed by both. RFK whiffed for his incomprehensible position that it’s not up to him to give up private jets and ipads, but for those who aren’t societal leaders. DiCaprio’s gaffe wasn’t in his answer to PJTV’s Michelle Fields, but with his several dozen photo ops taken upon his cool ride to and from the event, the world’s fifth largest private yacht. Any familiar with boats should easily be able to tell you that even small private boats burn through the fossil fuels at what can only be described as a prodigious rate.
Like all good Leftists, sacrifice is for the masses you see, not for those who get to sit on the ruling council if societal elites. Putting the issue of celebrity dunces pimping for a cause where they have less than zero credibility down for just the moment, there is something else going on here. The march in New York was that perfect example of it. Long ago, pretty much when the Berlin Wall fell, the Environmental Movement was taken over, all of it, by displaced Marxists. Which brings me to my favorite quote by Patrick Moore, GreenPeace’s founder:
Basically they are using sensation, misinformation, and scare tactics. The environmental movement was basically hijacked by political and social activists who came in and very cleverly learned how to use green rhetoric or green language to cloak agendas that had more to do with anti corporatism, anti globalization, anti business, and very little to do with science or ecology, and that’s when I left. I realized that the movement I had started was being taken over by politicos basically, and that they were using it for fundraising purposes. Nobody is going to listen to you if you say the world is not coming to an end, but if you say the world is going to end, you get headlines. And so sensationalism, especially when it’s combined with misinformation leads to a situation where people send gobs of money to these groups for campaigns that are actually totally misguided.
Moore spoke to the money raising goals of the Environmental Movement’s leadership. You may be wondering, how much money is there in Environmental Activism. That’s a good question. As it happens, there’s gobs of cash to be had for pimping yourself out as the group who really cares about Gaia, (that Earth Spirit I first saw on the Captain Planet Cartoons that I ended up censoring in my household.) More precisely, the annual take by Environmental 501(c)3′s according to the IRS is a respectable $13.4 Billion. As you can see from the picture above, that kind of scratch can buy a lot of trash to dump on a community while you hold a protest there crying about how man kind needs to clean up his act.

Follow the money—and the ideology. Big Green is big business. The US environmental activist industry alone is a $13.4-billion-a-year operation. It pours that money into determined campaigns to eliminate fossil fuels, gain ever greater control over our lives, reduce our living standards, and end free-enterprise capitalism. In each and every case of the latest assault by humans upon Mother Earth, the problem always comes down to some ill created by the Free Market System, and can only be cured by instilling Socialism as the new economic structure. In case there are any left who doubt the connection between the displaced Marxists and the current Environmental Movement, give them a listen while they tell us in their own words.
They’re not even trying to hide this anymore. But before we all climb on the economic-suicide-brought-on-by-chasing-the-sustainable-dragon-known-as-Climate-Justice-Now! bandwagon, let’s review the record of Marxism in terms of Evironmentalism.
When the Berlin Wall came down and the Iron Curtain was finally lifted to expose the inner workings of communism to Western eyes, one of the more shocking discoveries was the nightmarish scale of environmental destruction. The statistics for East Germany alone tell a horrific tale: at the time of its reunification with West Germany an estimated 42 percent of moving water and 24 percent of still waters were so polluted that they could not be used to process drinking water, almost half of the country’s lakes were considered dead or dying and unable to sustain fish or other forms of life, and only one-third of industrial sewage along with half of domestic sewage received treatment.
An estimated 44 percent of East German forests were damaged by acid rain — little surprise given that the country produced proportionally more sulphur dioxide, carbon dioxide, and coal dust than any other in the world. In some areas of East Germany the level of air pollution was between eight and twelve times greater than that found in West Germany, and 40 percent of East Germany’s population lived in conditions that would have justified a smog warning across the border. Only one power station in East Germany had the necessary equipment to clean sulphur from emissions.

A 1996 Russia country study published by the Library of Congress’ Federal Research Division described the country’s air as “among the most polluted in the world,” and found that 75 percent of its surface water was polluted and 50 percent of all water not potable according to 1992 quality standards.
While the explosion at the Chernobyl nuclear reactor probably counts as the country’s best-known environmental disaster, it was but one of numerous episodes of serious environmental damage which plagued the Soviet nuclear sector. Wikipedia describes a 1957 explosion at the Mayak nuclear reactor as resulting in “long-term contamination of an area of more than 800 to 20,000 square kilometers” with 10,000 people forced to evacuate and an unknown number of deaths related to the accident. Unsurprisingly, it also notes during the plant’s construction that “[e]nvironmental concerns were not taken seriously.”
This casual approach to nuclear issues extended to the country’s military, where the Soviet fleet — the largest nuclear-powered navy in the world — opted to sometimes dispose of reactors by simply dumping them into the ocean:
The fact of the matter is this. The leaders of this movement couldn’t care less about the environment. They care about inflicting a top down structure of control over the rest of us, with them of course, sitting on the top of it all. In their eyes, the only thing they need in order to bring this brave new world order about, is your belief that the world is ending, and man kind is to blame for it all. Luckily enough for them, Global Warming seems to cause everything bad that’s ever happened. That’s some powerful stuff.
