So much of blogging and business is online, at least for me. With Photoshop, coding tutorials, and the other countless resources on the web, the sky’s the limit. While I absolutely enjoy creating things that are meant to be purely digital, I’m all about those well-designed tangible desktop accessories. You know, planners, notebooks (SO many notebooks!!), tech supplies, and of course business cards! It took me a while to upgrade my personal business cards (check them out here), but I finally did it. Now while we’re rebranding, we are dreaming up what our TBM business cards will look like. If you search for business card inspiration on Pinterest, you’ll probably be glued to your computer for hours because the possibilities go on forever. Don’t say I didn’t warn you.

These are a few business card trends that I am a huge fan of this year. See the end of the post for some resources on how to create your own beautiful biz cards!

Gold Foil Accents

Sometimes just a touch of gold (or copper or rose gold) is all you need to make your business cards stand out. I love the cards above created by Smack Bang Designs.

Watercolor

Hand-painted business cards are always some of my favorites! I love the way Sycamore Street Press combines watercolor with foil to create a beautiful reflection of their brand.

Embossed

An important part of choosing a business card design is paying attention to how the card actually feels. Adding embossed elements makes your card more unique and probably unlikely to get “lost”. I never, ever throw pretty letterpress business cards away. The business cards above belong to Erin of Cotton & Flax (cutest shop ever? yep). Erin is a pattern designer so these cards are especially perfect for her brand.

Folded Cards

When it comes to business cards, more can definitely be more. Look at this nifty folded business card tutorial from Paper & Stitch! I’d love to try something like this.

Multiple Colors

Who says all of your business cards have to be identical? When I created mine (above), I took advantage of Moo.com‘s option to create as many different styles as you’d like in a single batch! I meant to stay “on brand” but it was way too hard to stick with one or two colors.

Illustrations

Adding illustrations to your business card is another great way to make them stand out! These Apartment A business cards designed by Say What Studio are super eye catching, huh?

Color Blocking

I can never get enough of color blocking. These business cards designed by Alvin Diec Studio Inc. are everything.

Circles or Squares

If you want to get really nontraditional, try out business cards in different shapes like circles or squares! I’m always impressed when I see circular cards like the ones above created for OSC Mini by Emma Dime.

Business Card Resources

Now for some biz card resources! My go-to source is Moo.com, which allows you to choose from hundreds of pretty templates or upload your own business card designs. If you want to purchase a premade template, you can go with Moo or search “business cards” on Etsy and Creative Market for tons of different options.

If you’re looking for unique letterpress business cards, sometimes the best companies are right in your own town. I love finding new letterpress companies both online and in person. My favorite letterpress studio is Moglea, home of the most gorgeous paper goods I’ve ever seen.

Want to do the design part yourself? Creative Market and Etsy are full of fonts, textures, and beautiful graphics that you can use in Photoshop to design your cards (make sure to read the policies before purchasing!).

Have you tried any of the above methods to create business cards? How did they turn out? Share your designs or ideas in the comments!
