Today’s Direct Sales Success Story comes from Trisha Deming, petPro with pawTree.
Tell us a little about yourself and your motivation to enroll in a direct sales opportunity.
I have been self-employed since I graduated from college. The idea of Corporate America and “working for the man” literally gives me nightmares. I LOVE being able to set my own schedule, and work for myself. I couldn’t do it any other way. The business I owned before pawTree is contract work. Some months are exceptional, others not so much! The months of December & January are always particularly slow. In January of 2014, this was no exception. I was wishing I had a more stable, reliable recurring income. I had heard about pawTree, and was immediately interested in the opportunity to earn a residual income on consumable products. It was the perfect time to jump in and get started.
What made you choose pawTree over the other options out there?
I am a huge animal lover, and have owned a dog most of my adult life. I have been asked to do other direct sales companies, however pawTree was one that I could really wrap my head around due to my love of animals, and the concept of Customized Pet Nutrition. Our dog Molly, has had food allergies and itchy skin since we rescued her. This was a product I knew would help her. It was easy to promote and sell once I saw the drastic difference it made in her life.
Once enrolled, what was your first step in getting your new business started?
I made my contact list! I wrote down as many people as I could think of. I listened to the many training videos and audios offered by pawTree, and started tuning in to their weekly training calls as well. I picked up the phone, and started making those calls! I had an in-home “Pet Party” that really jump started my business. I was able to build confidence in myself and in the product very quickly.
How are you marketing your business?
I am still working on that list! I add to it daily if possible. I have set a goal and encouraged my down line as well to add two names to that list each day. It is consistently growing, and is by far my best asset in the business. I also have a Facebook page that I use to share testimonials, and offer tips and share articles on proper pet nutrition.
What was one of your biggest surprises along the way?
I am so thrilled with the new friendships I have made. Our National Sales Director Melissa Davis told me this would be an incredible journey where I’d meet many new friends. I have such a deep connection with many petPro’s in my down line. I care for them, for their well being and consider them some of my best friends. I want them to succeed and will do what it takes to see that happen!
If there is one thing you could go back and do what would it be?
I honestly wouldn’t change one thing. I have learned so much in the past year, that I wouldn’t be where I am today without those experiences…the good and the bad. It has made me a better leader. The failures have helped keep me grounded. Every single experience that I have had in these past 13 months have made me the leader I am today, so no, I definitely wouldn’t change one thing.
Where do you recommend others getting started in direct sales turn for help?
I recommend they get support from their up line. I have no doubt that the nerves, the discouragement, the successes and growth, have all been experienced by the person that sponsored them. Learn from them, listen to them, and above all…be coachable! If you’re willing to learn from your leader, you will be successful. There is no doubt!
