Armed robbers, numbering more than 10, yesterday night struck at the Murtala Mohammed International Airport (MMIA), Lagos, disrupting flight operations and holding up airport users as they tried to rob passengers and other airport users.

In the shootout that followed between them and security operatives, two policemen and one robber were killed.

The incident, which occurred around 8pm, was said to have taken the various security officials stationed at the airport by surprise, and most of them had to flee due to the superior firepower of the robbers.
